MicroStation Add-in Install Information
- Before installing the Vault add-in for MicroStation, it is recommended
that you first close all running software.
- Previous major versions of Vault add-in for MicroStation must be
uninstalled. This should be done before the corresponding Vault Professional
version is uninstalled
- The Vault add-in for MicroStation install package consists of two MSI files:
client and server setup. Both installers support 64-bit operation systems only.
- For server setup installation of Autodesk Data Management
Server 2021 (ADMS) or Autodesk Vault File Server 2021 (AVFS) is required.
- In a connected workgroup or replicated environment (multiple Vault server installs), server setup should be run on publisher and all subscribers. This is also true for AVFS where server setup should be executed for all Autodesk Vault File Servers present in the environment.
- For client setup, installation of Autodesk Vault
Professional 2021 Client and the supported versions of MicroStation or PowerGEOPAK are required.
MicroStation Add-in Information
- The Vault add-in for MicroStation is tightly integrated into MicroStation and PowerGEOPAK.
You can perform Vault tasks using the Vault for MicroStation menus or the toolbar.
Check out and check in capabilities prevent more than one user from editing
a file at one time.
- A user-defined property in Vault must be created to store the revision number
of MicroStation files checked into Vault. This step is required to detect if
the MicroStation file has been modified during check in. For more information
refer to the Administrator Guide.
- The Vault add-in does not support the auto-save feature of MicroStation at this time.
Auto-saved changes will not be checked in to Vault. Save manually before check in to
be sure all your work is sent to Vault.
- The 'Document Information' dialog model tree is built based on information that has been
received from the local file. The 'Get Revision' dialog shows information on the Vault side.
- In MicroStation, the user can attach an image to a model in two ways: linking or embedding.
Currently Vault add-in for MicroStation supports only linked images. Embedded images will be
checked in successfully, however issues in DWF generation may appear.
- Hidden levels on the model level will be hidden in the resulting DWF. However, making a level
hidden on view will not affect the generated DWF.
- It is strongly recommended to perform check in of DGN files only using the Vault add-in for MicroStation or Autodesk Autoloader.
What's New
- MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 13 is now supported
- MicroStation v8i SS3 is no longer supported.
- Files can be checked-in even if the DWF file wasn’t created.

Job Processor for MicroStation Configuration Information
- Autodesk TrueView 2021 is required to complete DWF creation.
- Job Processing of DGN files supported only with Autodesk Vault Professional Add-in for MicroStation installed.
- MicroStation DWF Job Processor feature is required to be installed to process DGN files. By default this feature is selected for installation.
- To disable this feature, on the Setup Type dialog select "Custom" and disable "DWF Job Processor". It is possible to install
or uninstall this feature using "Change" in "Programs and Features".
- To successfully add Jobs in queue 'Enable Job Server' feature needs to be turned on in Vault Global Settings -> Integrations tab.
Job Processor for MicroStation Information
- The Vault add-in for MicroStation supports the creation of DWF as well as properties synchronization on Job Processor. For more information how to set up Sync Properties, refer to the Administrator Guide.
- To enable DWF generation on the Job Processor in MicroStation, select the Options on Visualization tab from the Vault toolbar and check the "Send to Job Server" button.
- The Administrator can control visualization content by setting options in the "PlotSetting.config" file. For more information, refer to the Administrator Guide.

- When MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 13 is installed, the following message can display during “Open file via Vault Client”: No application is associated with the specified file for this operation. Select any “,.dgn” file using Windows Explorer to solve this issue. Then right-click on the file, select “Open with...”, and select “MicroStation”..
- Properties modified using Vault Client properties can result in incorrect values in the MicroStation CONNECT Edition after you “Open From Vault”. Use “Update Properties” to fix this issue.
- If you have two MicroStation products (Select Series and CONNECT Edition) installed on a single machine, the Connect Edition version is used to perform the following operations:
- DWF creation via Job processor;
- Resolver for renamed and moved files;
- Plot manager.
- DWF creation through Job Processor can have an error for files from a newer MicroStation product on machine with an older version of MicroStation.
- An error can occur when you create a DWF file using the MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 13 using the following seed files:
- 2D Imperial Drawing.dgn;
- 2D Imperial Sheet.dgn;
- 2D Metric Drawing.dgn;
- 2D Metric Sheet.dgn.
- An error can occur during the Check-in operation for files with the attached '.dwg' file.
