General Information

Vault add-in for Creo (short for "Autodesk Vault Professional 2021 Add-in for Creo") requires Autodesk Vault Professional Server 2021 and is not compatible with prior versions of Autodesk Vault Professional.

Vault add-in for Creo requires Autodesk Vault Professional Client 2021. The add-in does not run without the Vault Professional Client installed.

For DWF preview, a DWF preview application (such as Autodesk Design Review) is required.

Vault add-in for Creo does not support a mixed language environment between the client and the server machines. The localized language of the client application must be the same language as the Autodesk Data Management Server application. Vault add-in for Creo is being released in US English and German.

Before installing Vault add-in for Creo, you should close all running software.

The installation path must not contain XML reserved characters such as "&".

Installer has two features: the add-in itself and a solution for printing Creo drawings. Both features are installed by default. On the installer selection dialog, you can disable the second feature.

General Information

This Vault add-in for Creo will retrieve the Autodesk Vault working folder after the first log in to Creo. From the Options menu delete the path set in Workspace Directory. Hit Enter and Integration will retrieve the default Working Directory from Vault. You can overwrite the default by entering a different path into the Workspace Directory option or by using the PRO_ADDIN_WORKSPACE environment variable set in the "Workspace Env Var" option. Restart Creo or Vault Professional Client to ensure a correct workspace.

This Vault add-in for Creo allows the use of UNICODE for Creo files.

The Vault add-in supports the renaming of files in Vault. In order to resolve broken file links, use the Open from Vault command. Do not use file names with spaces. Files named with spaces will not be resolved correctly as Creo do not support them. See File Resolution in Vault online Help for more information.

By default the Vault add-in displays DWF previews of selected files in the Open from Vault dialog in an external floating window.

The Vault add-in honors the working folder settings for each folder. Before changing the working folder settings in Vault Professional, Autodesk strongly recommends you check in all unsaved data, erase all Creo model data from memory, and remove your local files from disk.

Adding files to the Vault from outside the working folder is supported. To do this, close and erase your Creo model after check-in and re-open it using the Open From Vault command.

If a part or assembly is loaded in Creo, it is not possible to use the Open from Vault command to update that part or assembly. Before using Open from Vault on a loaded part or assembly, the part or assembly should be erased from memory in Creo.

The Vault add-in saves active file changes on check in if "Do auto-save on check in" is set to true. Otherwise changes made by the user which were not saved manually will not be checked in to Vault.

Vault add-in for Creo supports nested family tables. To enable check in of such models, the user must perform one of the following actions:
  1. Set add-in option "Retrieve all Family Table Instances" to "True" before opening the model in Creo.
  2. Set option "retrieve_instance_dependencies" to value "instance_and_generic_deps" of config.pro file and restart Creo.

Option 1 may result in significant performance issues if there are many instances in the model. It is recommended to use option 2 in those cases.

The following features of the Autodesk Vault Professional client are not supported for Creo files when working with the Vault Professional Client:

There might be other features not mentioned here which are not supported.

If Creo is configured as the default viewer in Microsoft Windows for Creo files, Creo will be launched when using the View feature of Vault Professional. It is highly recommended that files being viewed are not added to the Vault during this workflow. Instead use Vault add-in for Creo to add or modify Creo data in the Vault.

Vault add-in for Creo supports Vault property update during check in. However only properties of File associations will be handled.

BOM data is extracted for parts and assemblies when files are checked into the Vault. However, advanced BOM concepts like virtual parts are not currently supported.

BOM data cannot be extracted for Creo part instances according to Autodesk Vault business logic.

A file opened in Simple Representation mode must be fully loaded before being checked into the Vault.

When using the User-Defined Feature or Share Data commands in Creo, you can choose dependent file or independent file. Dependent files cannot be checked into the Vault automatically and must be added using Vault Professional.

In a multi-user environment, if a file in the vault is checked out by a user, other users who have the file open at the time will need to refresh their browsers to see the checked out status of the file.

If you check out an exploded assembly from vault, it will appear unexploded. The exploded status is saved in the vault but is not activated on open. To get back to the exploded state, simply explode it again or, in case of manual positioning of exploded parts, go to the saved view.

Creo may issue Out of Memory warnings for some large assemblies when checked in with the Create DWF Attachment option enabled. The workaround is to check in the assembly with the DWF option turned off and/or to check in the assembly step by step, e.g., subassembly by subassembly.

DWFx is currently not supported.

Due to Creo API restrictions, it is strongly recommended that you save or check in files of an open drawing in a separate window, before saving or check-in of the drawing itself.

If Vault Explorer is inactive for a long time (at last 30 min.) the Vault Extension of the add-in may show an error. This error indicates that the login information had been lost. In this case, please log in again into Vault Explorer.
