Sachin Chitta is a roboticist based in Silicon Valley. In 2015, he founded Kinema Systems, a venture backed startup that developed the world's first deep-learning-based solution for robotic depalletizing of boxes in logistics warehouses. Kinema Systems won Nvidia's best autonomous systems startup award in 2018 and was acquired by Boston Dynamics in 2019. Sachin led the creation of the most popular open-source tools for robotic manipulation, including MoveIt! and ROS-Control, at Willow Garage from 2007-2013. He also led the development of software for a new surgical robot system at SRI. Sachin holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.Tech from IIT Bombay, both in Mechanical Engineering.
