The move to Fusion was an organic one. A new, centerless grinding machine was designed from scratch and now in operation. Created by the head of maintenance, this custom machine supports production of cylindrical optical components, which have grown into a high-volume part of the business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is built to achieve the circumference for cylindrical parts,\u201d Stumm says. \u201cMostly optics, because mainly produce cylindrical planes for those projects. Courtesy of Albert Sch\u00fctz Gmbh.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"unlocking-full-5axis-machining\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unlocking full 5-axis machining<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most important improvements for Albert Sch\u00fctz has been Fusion\u2019s support for advanced 5-axis machining and using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/manufacturing-extension\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Manufacturing Extension<\/a>. Previously, the company was limited by their machining capabilities. Fusion opened the door to full 5-axis workflows, giving the four members of the team more flexibility and helping them take better advantage of their machines\u2019 capabilities.
