At the age of eight, he started racing BMX. He&nbsp;then took a long break from cycling to focus on racing motorcycles and building a career in telecommunications.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLife has a way of pushing hobbies aside for a while,\u201d&nbsp;Neuhaus&nbsp;says. \u201cWhen I came back to bikes around 2015, the industry was really in a transitory period. The innovations since&nbsp;I\u2019d&nbsp;last ridden eight years prior were exciting.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But&nbsp;he&nbsp;couldn\u2019t&nbsp;find his&nbsp;perfect \u201cGoldilocks\u201d fit,&nbsp;especially&nbsp;for&nbsp;mountain biking.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI kept thinking\u00a0that\u00a0if I could combine all the bikes I loved into one, I\u2019d have the perfect ride,\u201d Neuhaus says. \u201cBut each one I tried was missing something. With a fabrication background and a small shop at home, I started making frames for myself and just casually for friends. Then\u00a0Neuhaus\u00a0Metalworks\u00a0just grew from there.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01074-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-81919\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01074-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01074-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01074-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01074-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01074.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Neuhaus first met Daniel Yang,\u00a0a designer and engineer,\u00a0through a chance encounter when\u00a0Yang\u00a0was looking for his own custom bike frame.\u00a0His\u00a0background in mechanical engineering and 3D printing\u00a0expertise\u00a0provided a perfect fit to advance the company even further, and he joined the team. Now, <a href=\"https:\/\/neuhausmetalworks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Neuhaus\u00a0Metalworks<\/a>\u00a0is a burgeoning business, moving from one-off custom frames to production bikes manufactured in Taiwan and\u00a0a long line\u00a0of custom orders\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur combined backgrounds provided a&nbsp;catalyst to allow us to really grow the business at a fast rate,&nbsp;producing bikes both custom and now production that are widely&nbsp;loved by many,\u201d Neuhaus says.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"bringing-autodesk-fusion-into-the-mix\">Bringing Autodesk Fusion into the mix<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>When Yang and Neuhaus teamed up, they started using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Autodesk Fusion<\/a>\u00a0for their\u00a0first frame called \u201cHummingbird.\u201d\u00a0Fusion\u2019s\u00a0price point, accessibility, and ease of use were key\u00a0to\u00a0developing\u00a0their product line. Most frame builders\u00a0design with\u00a0basic 2D or even full paper templates, but the ability to take advantage of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/parametric-modeling-fusion-360-overview\/\">parametric modeling<\/a> kick-started their transformation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01104-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-81939\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01104-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01104-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01104-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01104-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01104.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTraditionally, as a frame builder, you need to figure things out in real life,\u201d Neuhaus says. \u201cYou get the tubes and parts and then try to orient them to make them all work using your physical jigs and fixtures as reference. With Fusion and 3D models, we can look at all the\u00a0clearance ahead of time. We can print a single part,\u00a0or\u00a0we can print 10 parts. 3D printing really\u00a0allows\u00a0us to scale\u00a0quickly\u00a0because it streamlines\u00a0our processes so much.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"shifting-the-business-into-high-gear\">Shifting the business into high gear<\/h2>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01507-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-81944\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01507-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01507-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01507-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01507-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC01507.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Neuhaus\u00a0Metalworks\u00a0provides\u00a0custom, hand-built\u00a0bikes\u00a0in California\u00a0with\u00a0five different\u00a0frame\u00a0options. But\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0difficult to\u00a0grow the\u00a0business with a typical waitlist of three to five months for custom builds. They recently debuted\u00a0the production frame \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/neuhausmetalworks.com\/products\/hummingbird\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hummingbird Core<\/a>,\u201d which is\u00a0manufactured\u00a0in Taiwan\u00a0and is half the price\u00a0of the custom frames. Two batches sold out within a\u00a0couple of\u00a0months, with new runs planned soon.\u00a0They\u2019re\u00a0also designing\u00a0several\u00a0new production models\u00a0for 2026.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Neuhaus and Yang, one of the biggest advantages of Fusion is Autodesk\u2019s support of the Maker community. They have experienced it first-hand, growing from a&nbsp;passion project&nbsp;to a full-fledged business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC00714-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-81949\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s&nbsp;really powerful that there are other frame builders now who are using Fusion and didn\u2019t come from an engineering background,\u201d Yang says. \u201cThey&nbsp;can express&nbsp;their creativity and build a successful business.&nbsp;I think the business&nbsp;opportunity Fusion&nbsp;provides is its biggest strength.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yang is also taking\u00a0new approaches\u00a0to reach a wider audience with\u00a0his\u00a0popular\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@Daniel_Yang_ARTEFACT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">YouTube channel<\/a>.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0committed to\u00a0creating\u00a0videos that help educate and inspire others to get on their bikes, highlight Neuhaus Metalworks\u2019 development along with its sister company, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/artefact.bike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Artefact<\/a>,\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0learn more about the design process with Fusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want to be really open and share our work,\u201d Yang says. \u201cWe plan on continuing to do what we\u2019ve been doing, but even
