Fusion 360 was great as a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/inventor\/2017\/02\/21\/everything-need-know-direct-modeling\/\">direct modeler<\/a> (push-pull on the fly), but now it\u2019s even better. With the introduction of the design timeline, you\u2019re not only still able to perform direct modeling, but will also be able to capture key commands in a historical, dynamic, and editable timeline.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"timeline.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/79137i2C475EC6E1B5CC7C\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" alt=\"timeline.png\" align=\"center\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: normal; font-size: medium;\">Begin a design by bringing in a reference image, starting with a sculpt body, or start modeling with solid primitives. The timeline will be capturing your commands as you progress; yet direct manipulations such as edit form and patch commands are not captured (because they\u2019re direct of course). If you get to a point where you need to go back and change dimensions or the form of your previous body, this is where the timeline becomes massively useful. No longer do you have to remake all the mechanical features you\u2019ve spent so much time on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">If it is the original sculpt body you want to modify, right click on the body creation instance and select edit to make the changes you need, and your design as a whole will update and adapt to your changes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"line-height: normal; font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">2.<\/span> Better ways to manage your projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We\u2019ve also introduced a completely revamped version of the dashboard of what it should have been all along. For those that work in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/bim-360\/design-collaboration-software\/\">collaborative team<\/a>, you no longer have to switch from hub to hub; they are now all organized in your Projects section, and activities in those projects all show up in your activity stream. All your designs are stored securely in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/subscription\/drive\">cloud,<\/a> and are accessible wherever you have an internet connection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"dashboard.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/79139i8EC4D09E993FBD77\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" alt=\"dashboard.png\" align=\"center\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: normal; font-size: medium;\">Opening a design is faster, you no longer have go into the details of a design to start editing. And when you do go into the details of your design, you can see nifty previews of your design rendered by our Rendering as a Service (RaaS) technology, It also allowing you to put your design in various background environments and set custom resolutions for direct download.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"raas.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/79141i84A74DA87084EFB2\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" alt=\"raas.png\" align=\"center\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">3.<\/span> Commands that allow you to do more<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We\u2019ve also implemented a bunch of new commands that you can now use as part of your arsenal of powerful tools. You now can input <strong>text as a sketch, <\/strong>which will then be selectable for all profile-consuming commands such as extrude, revolve, etc.\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 15px;\">A new joint command called <\/span><strong>As-Built Joint<\/strong><span style=\"line-height: 15px;\"> has been introduced to give you the option of joining two components based on their current location, and not their snap points. This will allow you to join components at exactly where you want them to be joined at.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">For our current users of previous version of Fusion 360, you\u2019ll now find all your\u00a0<strong style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Sculpt<\/strong>\u00a0commands and\u00a0<strong style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Patch<\/strong>\u00a0commands under the\u00a0<strong style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Create Form<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong style=\"line-height: 1.2;\">Create BaseFeature<\/strong>\u00a0option in the Create dropdown menu. Once you\u2019re satisfied with your design, finish the form or basefeature and move on to designing mechanical features.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: normal; font-size: medium;\">One of our favorite new commands is the <\/span><strong style=\"line-height: normal; font-size: medium;\">Sculpt pipe command; <\/strong><span style=\"line-height: normal; font-size: medium;\">it will allow you to define a T-Spline body based on a set of sketch elements or T-Spline edges. Paul made a really nice video explaining how it works.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MxcQRv7om-0\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Other usability improvements such as <strong>Lock grid<\/strong>, <strong>component drag<\/strong>, <strong>Isolate symmetry<\/strong>, and <strong>converting <a href=\"https:\/\/knowledge.autodesk.com\/support\/autocad\/learn-explore\/caas\/CloudHelp\/cloudhelp\/2016\/ENU\/AutoCAD-Core\/files\/GUID-A6232957-5039-4AB7-8B1D-8FD0AD98F77B-htm.html\">Mesh bodies<\/a> to BRep <\/strong>(solid) bodies have also made the cut, and are at your fingertips. There are many other features that are worth mentioning but would make this too long, so make sure to check out the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/Get-Help-with-Fusion-360\/Update-Release-Notes-Current-v-2-0-1042\/td-p\/4324864\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">full list of what\u2019s new here<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\"><strong style=\"line-height: normal; font-size: large;\">The learning goes on<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Along with this update, our\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fusion360.autodesk.com\/resources\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">learning page<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0has also gotten a quick refresh with a new\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/qJn_1YuBR7Y\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">getting started guide<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0and tutorials. We have also uploaded a couple new videos, one with Charles walking me through how he designed the new utility knife sample file from beginning to end.
