We later found out the driver behind the wheel was <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.dupontregistry.com\/porsche\/bill-gates-americas-richest-porsche-959\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bill Gates<\/a>!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sighting of the supercar \u2013 one of only 292 ever built \u2013 would give birth to a lifelong obsession with Porsches that would only intensify with age, culminating in Berisha founding BBi Autosport in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThese cars can do anything: hill climbs, off road, ice racing, rally racing, endurance races.\u201d<\/p>\n<cite>\u2014 Betim Berisha, Founder, BBi Autosport<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside designer and company CTO, Dmitriy Orlov, today BBi Autosport operates at the upper echelons of bespoke motorsports, hosting a team capable of not only tuning and customizing the \u201cphenomenal, dynamic, wildly versatile canvas\u201d of Porsche vehicles,\u201d but also designing vehicles uniquely their own in spirit and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"designing-the-pig\">Designing &#8220;The Pig&#8221;<\/h2>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2238_with_overlay-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"bbi-autosport-hoonipigasus\" class=\"wp-image-36028\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2238_with_overlay-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2238_with_overlay-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2238_with_overlay-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2238_with_overlay.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>BBi\u2019s talent for conjuring one-of-a-kind Porsches is perhaps best embodied by the creation of the Hoonipigasus, a beastly 1,400 HP mid-engine AWD rally racer conceived from the ground up in partnership with Hoonigan Racing for rally car legend, Ken Block. Loosely inspired by the Porsche 911, \u201cThe Pig\u201d \u2013 as it is fondly referred to by its creators \u2013 was to be let loose on the death-defying winding course of Pikes Peak International Hill Climb for its 100th-anniversary race with the hopes of breaking records on its way up to the race&#8217;s 14,100 feet peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pikes Peak trial was preceded by BBi\u2019s own race against time. Battling an \u201cinsane\u201d schedule compounded by long lead times further complicated by the pandemic, BBi found themselves designing, engineering, fabricating and testing The Pig in parallel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traditional tools wouldn\u2019t allow each of the team members to work concurrently and collaboratively without \u201cstepping on each other\u2019s toes\u201d. The Pig not only had to get assembled to roll up to the starting line by race day, but had to be engineered to the most exacting standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a mere 0.04mm margin of error for their measurements, the team had to factor in every aspect of every part to line up with precise accuracy to bring their vision to life.\u201cProducing parts of that quality is a daunting task when dealing with the tight deadline we were under,\u201d says Breisha.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"turning-the-corner-from-chaos-into-collaboration\">Turning the corner from chaos into collaboration<\/h2>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2794-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"bbi-autosport-fusion-360\" class=\"wp-image-36033\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2794-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2794-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2794-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2794.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The need for a CAD\/CAM solution that would allow the BBi team to develop products concurrently and outside the boundaries of traditional 3D modeling software made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/campaigns\/fusion-360\/automotive-aftermarket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Autodesk Fusion 360<\/a> the ideal tool set, one that could bring all of their aggregated data into one centralized location. They\u2019d find simplicity in using a cloud product development tool integrating CAD, CAM, CAE, and PCB to turn prototypes into production-ready parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAutodesk Fusion 360 enabled us to move seamlessly through every stage in our development process, whether we were designing an engine, chassis, or even the smallest component,\u201d says Betim. Tools like generative design enabled Betim and his team to run flow analysis to generate recommended outputs. They then used this data to design parts manufactured to their desired specifications.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-9456-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"creating-motorsports-parts\" class=\"wp-image-36038\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-9456-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-9456-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-9456-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-9456.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFusion 360 allowed Dmitriy, to bring all of our aggregated data into one centralized location,\u201d he says, \u201cWe could then all design and build in parallel by prioritizing tasks based on their lead times. For example, making molds and tooling for bodywork was our first priority because it would have the longest lead time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCollaborating on the cloud turned the chaos into organized chaos, Fusion 360 enabled us to design, validate, build and get straight to the racetrack very quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-motorsport-to-consumer-product-pipeline\">The motorsport to consumer product pipeline<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, even with the greatest plans in place, motorsport races are unpredictable by nature. The Pig would drop a valve before even qualifying for the race, leaving a disappointed Block and the BBi team to look ahead toward the 101st \u201cRace to the Clouds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2583-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"bbi-autosport-hoonipigasus\" class=\"wp-image-36043\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2583-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2583-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2583-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/BBI-Autosport-2583-1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Though disheartened, Betim remains upbeat about the lessons learned leading up to the race and how they\u2019ll translate to their consumer products division.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a trickle-down effect from our motorsport division to our consumer product division,\u201d notes the Porsche-loving-kid-turned-BBi-founder. \u201cWe found with almost the click of a button, Fusion 360 is capable of exporting our 3D models to our CNC machine to manufacture right then and there, ending up with a finished part that is ready to hit the racetrack <em>or<\/em> ship out the door to our client.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for Pike\u2019s Peak, \u201cWe\u2019ll be back.
