Let\u2019s take a closer look.<\/SPAN><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><IFRAME src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/42ufQf_LeGU\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/IFRAME><\/P><HR \/><P><FONT size=\"5\"><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><STRONG>Simulation &#8211; New Thermal Studies and Post Processing Tools<\/STRONG><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><STRONG>Thermal Study (IS)<\/STRONG><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><STRONG><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"thermal_study_blog.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/211902i71D94BC6F12DEE0A\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"thermal_study_blog.png\" \/><\/STRONG><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drop it like it\u2019s hot! The Simulation workspace now has Thermal and Thermal Stress functionality in the Studies selection panel. You can now prevent your next custom-designed 3D printed lamp shade from melting into a hideous blob&nbsp;(not that it\u2019s ever happened to me of course).<\/SPAN><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To get more technical, Thermal Study allows you to analyze temperature distribution in the design caused by heat input and out. This two-step analysis also calculates for deformation caused by heat, stress, and can be combined with static stress.<\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"thermal_stress.gif\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/212043iDDF4E0030E8C0716\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"thermal_stress.gif\" \/><\/SPAN><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><STRONG><FONT size=\"3\">Simulation Post Processing Features<\/FONT> <\/STRONG><STRONG><BR \/><\/STRONG><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s great to be able to setup up different studies, but the results they yield are what we\u2019re really interested in. You now have 3 new ways to interrogate the results and get the most out of your studies.<\/SPAN><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><BR \/><BR \/><\/SPAN><\/P><UL><LI><FONT size=\"4\"><STRONG style=\"line-height: 18px;\">Point Probe<\/STRONG><\/FONT><SPAN> allows you to pick a specific point of a surface, drop it, and use the arrow manipulator to slide in that direction and see the study results show up in real-time. This example shows a point probe being used on a computer chip, showing the thermal result of a specific area of the chip by modifying the X, Y, and Z coordinates.<\/SPAN><\/LI><\/UL><P><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"image35.gif\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/211906iF512BA407F6B3618\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"image35.gif\" \/><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><UL><LI><FONT size=\"4\"><STRONG style=\"line-height: 18px;\">Surface Probe<\/STRONG><\/FONT><SPAN> allows you to place multiple probes on a surface of the design and show various simulation study results such as stress, strain, displacement, etc.<\/SPAN><\/LI><\/UL><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"image36.gif\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/211907i2D214F7FB6873BCA\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"image36.gif\" \/><\/SPAN><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><UL><LI><FONT size=\"4\"><STRONG style=\"line-height: 18px;\">Slice Plane <\/STRONG><\/FONT><SPAN>is a nifty tool. It lets you cut your results wherever you want, at whatever angle, and see what is happening on the surface of the design as well as internal to its structure. This is a good way to see if what is happening at the surface is also happening through the body. What makes Slice Plane even more powerful is when it gets paired with Surface Probes, since Surface Probes can also be placed on sliced area as well, giving you precise results at those specific locations.<\/SPAN><\/LI><\/UL><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"image37.gif\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/211908i5FBBF8D3AE40356D\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"image37.gif\" \/><\/SPAN><\/P><HR size=\"30\" \/><P><FONT size=\"5\"><STRONG>Modeling Features&nbsp;<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>Associative Offset (IS)<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previously when you tried to create an offset of an existing sketch profile, the new offset sketch would not update when you made changes to the original sketch it was based on, which was quite&nbsp;annoying. Now we made it so that it does update.&nbsp;<\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 2.38.53 PM.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/211910iD76EB376B02F6948\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 2.38.53 PM.png\" \/><\/SPAN><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can also select whether you want a single, partial, or full loop offset, and select multiple sketch curves.<\/SPAN><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>Sketch Midpoints<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P>You can now also get access to Midpoints when adding dimensions and constraints.<\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>Sculpt (T-Splines) Freeze and Unfreeze (IS)<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When working with T-Spline bodies in the Sculpt workspace, you can now freeze areas of the body so that edits to the body will not affect the frozen area.<\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"freeze_unfreeze.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/211911iA3AD54D5C3C8D21B\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"freeze_unfreeze.png\" \/><\/SPAN><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>Better Shell behavior<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previously when the Shell command was invoked, we would automatically give the shell thickness a value. This made it cumbersome to select\/deselect additional faces if needed, since sometime the default value came back as invalid. Now the default value is 0, so you can make those changes before actually specifying a value.<\/SPAN><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>SnapShot is now called Capture Position<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This should make it less confusing on what this command is actually doing. Snapshot isn\u2019t taking a picture. It\u2019s capturing the change in position of your component move, so let\u2019s call it Capture Position instead.<\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"capture_position.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/211912iFF4F4020FE7CB63C\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"capture_position.png\" \/><\/SPAN><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>Sketch Constraint visibility can now be turned off<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can now show and hide all you sketch constraints with a simple check box in the Options selection of the Sketch Palette.<\/SPAN><\/P><P><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"Show_constraints.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/211913iC02DA36C77E06883\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"Show_constraints.png\" \/><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>Pattern command no longer create folders in the browser<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P><SPAN style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because those folders were not deletable and were pretty useless.<\/SPAN><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><STRONG><FONT size=\"3\">Insert DXF directly into a Sketch (IS)<\/FONT><\/STRONG><\/P><P>You can insert a DXF file right in the Sketch environment when you are sketch, without needing to upload it to your Data Panel first, and then doing a Open or Insert Into Design.&nbsp;<\/P><P><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"dxf.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/212520i7C96B492516348F7\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"dxf.png\" \/><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>MakeTime Partner App now Available&nbsp;<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P>MakeTime is a service where you can upload your 3D models, get a quote from jobshops and suppliers on how much it would cost to get your part machined, get matched with the right supplier for you, and then have your parts delivered to your door once the job has been completed. The filter is located at the very bottom of the Data Panel, allowing you filter out specific projects by the title.&nbsp;<\/SPAN><\/LI><\/UL><P><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"filter_projects.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/212042iA48AD2CE1A500286\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"filter_projects.png\" \/><\/P><HR \/><P><FONT size=\"5\"><STRONG>Rendering and Materials<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>Imported Materials now show&nbsp;RGB values<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P>Now when you import materials, they will have names that include the RGB values to make it easier to identify the material color.<\/P><P><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"imported_materials.png\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/212523i9D9C4296D48B63FD\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"imported_materials.png\" \/>&nbsp;<\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>New Scene Environments Available for Download&nbsp;<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P>Who doesn&#8217;t like eye candy? The Scene Settings tool within the Render workspace just received a bunch of new scene environments, available for you to download right within the tool. Simply click the download button to get them. New environments include Crossroads, Dry Lake bed, Field, Photobooth, Skylight, and Snow Field. The Dry Lake bed is a personal favorite: plop any car model in it and you&#8217;re instantly taken to the&nbsp;Bonneville Salt Flats of radness.&nbsp;<\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"new_environments.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/212039iBD9E8FA357BFE06D\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"new_environments.jpg\" \/><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><EM>Lotus F1 model designed by Fusion 360 Architect, Jeff Strater, rendered by Keqing Song using Fusion 360&#8217;s local ray-tracing rendering engine.<\/EM><\/P><P><STRONG><IMG border=\"0\" alt=\"lotus_new.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/autodesk.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/212040iA7C2990ECA2CFD2A\/image-size\/original?v=mpbl-1&amp;px=-1\" title=\"lotus_new.jpg\" \/><\/STRONG><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"3\"><STRONG>Better Texture Mapping Performance on Sculpt Bodies<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P>Now that we have smarter 3D wood textures, we thought that it would be nice to make the texture mapping behave dynamically as you are sculpting your T-Spline model with Edit Form. The example shows how the wood material adapts to the manipulations performed, making it more realistic to how the texture should look, without any clipping or sharp cuts.&nbsp;<\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><IMG src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/X3R0v2M.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/P><P>&nbsp;<\/P><HR \/><P>&nbsp;<\/P><P><FONT size=\"5\"><STRONG>Improvements and Fixes<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/P><P>With every update that requires Fusion 360 to be offline for a while, we push tons of bug fixes in addition to all the new features.
