If you find the video helpful, please let us know by leaving feedback on our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.autodesk.com\/view\/fusion360\/ENU\/courses\/AP-COLLAB-SETUP-PROJECT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Self-Paced Learning site<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"project-typesnbsp\">Project Types <\/h2>\n\n\n<p>There are&nbsp;three project types&nbsp;in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/campaigns\/fusion-360\/dream-to-done?mktvar002=4333583001|ORG|&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=other&amp;utm_campaign=4333583dmblogf360&amp;utm_id=4333583001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fusion 360<\/a>,&nbsp;and you can select the one that best suits the needs of your team and project.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>An&nbsp;<strong>Open&nbsp;<\/strong>project&nbsp;is visible to all team members.&nbsp;Any team member can automatically join an open project, without the approval of a&nbsp;<strong>Project Admin<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>A&nbsp;<strong>Closed&nbsp;<\/strong>project is&nbsp;also&nbsp;visible to&nbsp;all team members, and any team member can request to join the project. However,&nbsp;a&nbsp;<strong>Project&nbsp;Admin<\/strong>&nbsp;must&nbsp;approve the request.&nbsp;<\/li><li>A&nbsp;<strong>Secret&nbsp;<\/strong>project is only visible to&nbsp;project members who you\u2019ve invited to the project.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-adjust-project-typenbsp\">How to Adjust Project Type <\/h2>\n\n\n<p>You can adjust the project type in Fusion Team by following the steps below.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"705\" height=\"344\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/1DetailsOnWeb.jpg\" alt=\"adjust-project-type-fusion-360\" class=\"wp-image-25700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/1DetailsOnWeb.jpg 705w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/1DetailsOnWeb-300x146.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 705px) 100vw, 705px\" \/><figcaption>The View Details On Web icon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Fusion 360, expand the&nbsp;<strong>Data Panel<\/strong>, navigate to the project, then click the&nbsp;<strong>View Details&nbsp;On&nbsp;Web<\/strong>&nbsp;icon.<\/li><li>The project opens in Fusion Team in your default web browser.&nbsp;<\/li><li>On the right side, click&nbsp;to expand the&nbsp;<strong>Project&nbsp;Details&nbsp;<\/strong>panel.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;icon, select the project type: Open, Closed, or Secret, then click&nbsp;<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li><li>The project type switches immediately.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-manage-access-levels-and-roles\">How to Manage Access Levels and Roles<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>There are three project&nbsp;roles&nbsp;in Fusion 360,&nbsp;each with specific levels&nbsp;of access. You can&nbsp;assign&nbsp;each project member to&nbsp;a&nbsp;role, based on the needs of your team and project.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3ProjectAccessLevels-1024x520.jpg\" alt=\"manage-access-levels\" class=\"wp-image-25705\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3ProjectAccessLevels-1024x520.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3ProjectAccessLevels-300x152.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3ProjectAccessLevels-768x390.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3ProjectAccessLevels-1536x780.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/3ProjectAccessLevels.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A&nbsp;<strong>Viewer<\/strong>&nbsp;only receives&nbsp;<strong>View&nbsp;<\/strong>access.&nbsp;They can view&nbsp;project members,&nbsp;files,&nbsp;folders,&nbsp;and comments&nbsp;in the project,&nbsp;and&nbsp;add comments.&nbsp;<\/li><li>An&nbsp;<strong>Editor&nbsp;<\/strong>receives&nbsp;the same access level as a&nbsp;<strong>Viewer<\/strong>, as well as&nbsp;<strong>Edit, Upload,&nbsp;Download<\/strong>&nbsp;access, and&nbsp;<strong>Manage Sharing<\/strong>&nbsp;access.&nbsp;They can copy, move, rename, edit, and delete files and folders in the project.&nbsp;They can also share public links to files and invite new project members to join.&nbsp;<\/li><li>A&nbsp;<strong>Project Admin<\/strong>&nbsp;receives the same access levels as an&nbsp;<strong>Editor<\/strong>,&nbsp;and also&nbsp;<strong>Project Admin<\/strong>&nbsp;access.&nbsp;They can edit project settings, approve requests to join the project, and adjust&nbsp;the roles of&nbsp;project member.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also invite non-team members to a project directly, as&nbsp;<strong>Project Contributors<\/strong>. As soon as they approve the request, you\u2019ll gain access to the project.&nbsp;The&nbsp;<strong>Project Admin<\/strong>&nbsp;may assign you to the&nbsp;<strong>Viewer<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Editor<\/strong>, or&nbsp;<strong>Project Admin<\/strong>&nbsp;role, which will determine your access levels in the project.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-invite-members-from-fusion-360nbspor-fusion-teamnbsp\">How To Invite Members From Fusion 360 or Fusion Team <\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fusion-360\">Fusion 360<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>If you are an&nbsp;<strong>Editor&nbsp;<\/strong>or&nbsp;<strong>Project Admin<\/strong>, you can invite new project members to join from inside Fusion 360 or from Fusion Team in a web&nbsp;browser.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"230\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/7InviteFromFusion.jpg\" alt=\"invite-members-from-fusion-360\" class=\"wp-image-25720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/7InviteFromFusion.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/7InviteFromFusion-300x173.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Fusion 360, expand the&nbsp;<strong>Data Panel<\/strong>, then navigate to the&nbsp;project.&nbsp;<\/li><li>And switch to the&nbsp;<strong>People&nbsp;<\/strong>tab.<\/li><li>Enter the email addresses of the people you want to invite to join&nbsp;the project, separated by commas, then click&nbsp;<strong>Invite<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Make sure you enter the email address that&nbsp;the&nbsp;project member uses to access Fusion 360.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>After you follow these steps, each person you invited will receive an email&nbsp;with a link they can click to join the project.&nbsp;When they join, they are assigned to the&nbsp;<strong>Editor&nbsp;<\/strong>role.&nbsp;If the person is not a member of the Fusion Team that contains the project, they are added as a&nbsp;<strong>Project Contributor<\/strong>, and they cannot see any&nbsp;other&nbsp;projects&nbsp;in the Fusion Team unless they are also invited as a member of those projects individually.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fusion-team\">Fusion Team<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>In Fusion Team, you have a bit more control over the invitation process.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8InviteFromTeam-1024x550.jpg\" alt=\"invite-members-from-fusion-team\" class=\"wp-image-25725\" width=\"840\" height=\"451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8InviteFromTeam-1024x550.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8InviteFromTeam-300x161.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8InviteFromTeam-768x413.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8InviteFromTeam.jpg 1154w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>From inside the&nbsp;project&nbsp;in Fusion 360,&nbsp;switch to the&nbsp;<strong>Data&nbsp;<\/strong>tab, then&nbsp;click the&nbsp;<strong>View Details&nbsp;On&nbsp;Web<\/strong>&nbsp;icon.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The project opens in Fusion Team in your default web browser.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Click the&nbsp;<strong>Project Members<\/strong>&nbsp;tab, and the list of existing project members displays.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Invite<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Enter the email addresses of the people you want to invite to join the project, separated by commas.&nbsp;If you are inviting existing team members, their names will automatically appear in the list for you.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Select the role you want to assign the new project members to,&nbsp;<strong>Viewer&nbsp;<\/strong>or&nbsp;<strong>Editor<\/strong>, then click&nbsp;<strong>Send Invitations<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>After you complete these steps, each person you&nbsp;invited will receive an email&nbsp;with a link they can click to join the project. When they join, they are assigned to the<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>role&nbsp;you selected during the invitation process.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-manage-rolesnbsp\">How to Manage Roles <\/h2>\n\n\n<p>After you invite project members to join a project, you may want to adjust their role to control their access level as the project evolves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"942\" height=\"468\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/9ManageRoles.jpg\" alt=\"manage-roles-fusion-360\" class=\"wp-image-25731\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/9ManageRoles.jpg 942w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/9ManageRoles-300x149.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/9ManageRoles-768x382.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 942px) 100vw, 942px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>From the&nbsp;<strong>Project Members<\/strong>&nbsp;tab in Fusion Team, locate the project member whose role you want to adjust.&nbsp;<\/li><li>In the&nbsp;<strong>Role&nbsp;<\/strong>column, expand the menu for that project member.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Select the&nbsp;<strong>Viewer<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Editor<\/strong>, or&nbsp;<strong>Project Admin<\/strong>&nbsp;role.<\/li><li>If you need to remove a project member&nbsp;from the project, click the&nbsp;<strong>Remove&nbsp;<\/strong>icon next to the role menu.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The project member will then receive an email to let them know their role has changed for the project and that their access levels are adjusted to match the&nbsp;new&nbsp;role immediately.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pro-tip-manage-access-to-commonnbspcomponentnbspprojectsnbsp\">Pro Tip: Manage Access to Common Component Projects <\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Finally, if you\u2019re using a&nbsp;common project&nbsp;to maintain&nbsp;off-the-shelf components like hardware,&nbsp;controls,&nbsp;electrical connectors, or fittings&nbsp;that&nbsp;are&nbsp;referenced into assemblies&nbsp;across&nbsp;multiple different design projects, you may want to&nbsp;set up access to this&nbsp;type of project&nbsp;so that most team members are&nbsp;<strong>Viewers<\/strong>, and only the team members who maintain the common&nbsp;components&nbsp;are&nbsp;<strong>Editors&nbsp;<\/strong>or&nbsp;<strong>Project Admins<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This lets the&nbsp;<strong>Viewers&nbsp;<\/strong>find the components they need and insert them&nbsp;as external components&nbsp;into the assemblies they\u2019re working&nbsp;on&nbsp;but&nbsp;ensures only the maintainers can edit the&nbsp;common&nbsp;components.
