Boy we sure do, and we\u2019ve been very busy at it, wrenching on the this significant upgrade to our cloud data management infrastructure, upgrading it, making sure that everything is bolted down and is connected properly. You will notice some things feel snappier and that\u2019s good and all, but this will also make so much more possible. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Things might not look different as far as the new WIP DM, but this update represents an important internal milestone for us, and takes us another step towards enabling more powerful data management and collaboration workflows such as the much talked about<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/branching-and-merging-in-fusion-360\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">branching and merging experience<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> we\u2019ve been designing. We\u2019ll definitely keep you in the loop as we start revealing the new capabilities these improvements make possible. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>New Features added to 2D Drawings<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>Support for Cosmetic Threads\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2064\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ID_bulb.png\" alt=\"ID_bulb\" width=\"23\" height=\"36\" \/><\/b><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2D drawings now supports threads (mentioned in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/ideastation-request-a-feature-or\/annotate-drawings-to-the-asme-standard\/idi-p\/5483463\/page\/3#comments\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this IdeaStation idea<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). If you have a design that has threads on some of its parts, you know that the Thread tool lets you toggle between cosmetic threads or modeled threads. Keep in mind that this is displayed differently in ASME and ISO standards. As part of our efforts to provide <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/ideastation-request-a-feature-or\/annotate-drawings-to-the-asme-standard\/idi-p\/5483463\/page\/3#comments\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more annotation tools<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we now have Surface Texture under the Symbol drop down menu that lets you do just that. For those not familiar with Surface Texture and what each symbol type means, here is a useful <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Surface_finish\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">surface finishes\/textures Wiki page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that should get you up-to-speed.<\/span><br \/>\n<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2085\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-04-at-11.23.37-AM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-05-04 at 11.23.37 AM\" width=\"582\" height=\"653\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-04-at-11.23.37-AM.png 582w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-04-at-11.23.37-AM-267x300.png 267w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>Border and Title Block Visibility<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So what if you didn\u2019t need a title block or border when you created a 2D drawing and just wanted them gone? Before you were able to delete them yet couldn\u2019t get them back, but now you can turn them on and off by going to the Sheet Settings option at the bottom and checking whether you want to display them or not.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2088\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/title-block-visiblity.gif\" alt=\"title block visiblity\" width=\"800\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to these features, we\u2019ve also made a ton of fixes in the 2D drawings space. Here are some of the more notable ones:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There were some designs where you couldn\u2019t export a drawing from the details page of A360. This has been fixed. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There were instances where if you made a change to your design, saved it, and went back to it\u2019s associated drawing, you didn\u2019t get prompted that the design is out-of-date\/options to update. Now Fusion will let you know that your design is out-of-date.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Select and Get Simple Measurements<\/strong>\u00a0<b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2064\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ID_bulb.png\" alt=\"ID_bulb\" width=\"23\" height=\"36\" \/><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2091\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/measure-feedback.gif\" alt=\"measure feedback\" width=\"611\" height=\"542\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We love it when a plan comes together, and we\u2019re happy to report that one of the highest voted ideas on the IdeaStation made it into this update. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/user\/viewprofilepage\/user-id\/3310372\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TMC.Engineering<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">submitted <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/ideastation-request-a-feature-or\/simple-measurement-without-selecting-an-icon\/idc-p\/5901658#M11316\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this IdeaStation idea<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> around having simple measurements appear when you select something on your design, without needing to use the Measure tool explicitly. This idea accrued 124 votes, and we\u2019re glad to see it become a permanent feature of the product. This means you can render designs to a preset or custom size and resolution on your desktop in the background while you continue to work. Previously I\u2019ve posted a work-around of how to do it, but now when you import a SVG, you\u2019ll get a preview of what it looks like and rotate it before you place the SVG. Better yet, we got rid of all those sketch points that come in so now when your SVG is placed, it looks nice and clean.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2115\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rad_svg_is_rad.gif\" alt=\"rad_svg_is_rad\" width=\"995\" height=\"596\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Graphic Improvements<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We also improved our Depth of Field (DoF) feature where previously if you picked the area where you want your focus to be, you\u2019d have to pick it again if you played around with your camera angles (pan, zoom, etc). Now Fusion will remember where you placed your point so that you no longer have to pick the area again after zooming in and out.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In terms of fixes, we found a memory leak issue where the amount of data to render would increase even though the design and rendering settings were unchanged. This is now fixed. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was also a weird regression related to a graphics issue where if you applied a Zebra analysis on a T-Spline box, the blue highlight would turn into some sort of a mutated Chia pet. Now when new users sign in for the first time, the data panel will open automatically to your first default project with a blurb about how to import existing data, pointing to the upload icon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking of data, we now support SolidWorks 2016, Inventor 2017, NX 10 and Catia V5-6R2015 files. Woohoo! \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For some reason the share menu was missing from the Mac system menu bar. Now it\u2019s back!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was regression issue on Macs where you weren\u2019t able to insert OBJs as a mesh in Fusion, and if you did, graphics performance became less than optimal. That\u2019s now fixed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was another strange issue where Fusion would crash when you\u2019re trying to exit the software. Talk about irony. This was largely happening on Mac machines running El Capitan. We\u2019ve made a fix that should stop this from happening from now on.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We found a regression issue where if you wanted to download Meshmixer from the 3D print dialog, nothing would happen. Now it works as it should.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>CAM improvements <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/user\/viewprofilepage\/user-id\/448739\">Lonniecady<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> posted the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/ideastation-request-a-feature-or\/add-model-override-to-turning-operations\/idi-p\/5973468\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">idea<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of adding model override to Turning operations in the CAM workspace. This will allow you to select sketch geometry on the geometry tab in Turning so that you have more control over what material to remove in each step.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We made fixes to our CAM kernel which fixed many other issues that have been reported in adaptive clearing, toolpath generation, as well as Spiral and turning ID grooving behaviors. One of these issues had to do with how the tool was only retracting to X0 instead of all the way to the defined retract plane when Resh Machining was on. Now it will go all the way to the Retract plane every time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We also fixed some nasty reproducible crash issues around selecting an open contour in the 2D pocket command, selecting curves as geometry input, as well as copying, deleting, and pasting operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tool library file extensions have been changed from mytoollibrary.<\/span><b>json<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to a less devspeak extension: <\/span><b>.tools<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Having a unique extension will make it more easy to identify them from other file formats when you\u2019re importing and exporting tool libraries.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Building out our API <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We fixed a number of bugs in our API related to attributes and incorrect line breaks in our Python API definition so that it is more readable.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019ve added the ability to create a new real BrepBody based on an input BrepBody which can be transient. This is possibly only valid in the context of a direct modeling document or a basefeature in a parametric document.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of the command related events (ValidateInputs and InputChanged) don&#8217;t provide an easy or intuitive way to get the associated CommandInputs object. @ekinsb and our API gurus have added a new &#8220;inputs&#8221; property to both of the related eventArgs classes. Winning.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019ve also added a Test attribute for Fusion entities. The attribute includes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ConstructionAxis, ConstructionPoint and ConstructionPlane<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SketchDimensions and GeometricConstraints<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JointOrigin, RigidGroup, AsBuildJoint and Joint classes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meshbody class<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support attribute copy\/paste <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Product (asset) and Document classes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Component Behavior Fixes <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/user\/viewprofilepage\/user-id\/437966\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bluelife<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reported this <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/design-validate-document\/2-possible-bugs-moving-component-change-parameters-on-copied\/m-p\/6034513\/highlight\/true\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">component copy and paste issue<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where after a new component was pasted, he was not able to edit the new component\u2019s parameters. We discovered that this was a regression bug, and now it\u2019s fixed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was a bug where if you had referenced designs in your original design, mirrored the reference design, then created a new component, joined the new one with the mirrored, and THEN broke the link on the referenced design, the joint would disappear. The joint should remain, and now it does.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There were some crash issues related to breaking links and getting the latest of a cross-referenced design. We\u2019re glad to report that these have now been fixed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019ve received crash reports on Fusion crashing when you were using the Move command or when you were creating a joint. Apparently it was related to the Parameters issue, and now it\u2019s been resolved. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Sketching Improvements and Fixes<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are have been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=dxf+units&amp;oq=DXF+units&amp;aqs=chrome.0.0l6.12212j0j4&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8#q=dxf+units+Fusion+360+site:forums.autodesk.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">many reports<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> around inserted DXFs having the wrong scale\/units. Good news &#8211; you can now choose\/override units when you insert a DXF \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now when you snap a sketch vertex to point outside the sketch environment, Fusion will show a coincident constraint icon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can now pre-select multiple sketch geometry and then add equal constraints on them in a single scoop.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previously if you pre-selected sketch geometry and went into the Offset command, your pre-selections would not remain selected. Now they do.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/user\/viewprofilepage\/user-id\/1749303\"><b>Robduarte<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reported this <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.autodesk.com\/t5\/design-validate-document\/bug-in-sketch-rectangular-patterns-distance-type-changes\/m-p\/6233052\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sketch bug<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where after he created a rectangular pattern in a sketch and switched the Distance Type from Spacing to Extents, it screws up the whole thing. Now it should work as it should. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was a weird bug where if you had symmetry constraints applied to the vertical end points of a line and then dragged the line, it wouldn\u2019t remain symmetrical. Now it does.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was crash issue where if you edited an existing sketch that was very complex, a circuit board for instance, Fusion would crash. We dug into this and found out that it was graphics related. Now this is fixed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you projected a point of a sketch onto another surface, Fusion would sometime end up crashing. It happened on a couple specific designs, and now it\u2019s fixed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Again, thanks for your continuous support! We love learning about what you guys are designing with the software, and constantly find ourselves with our jaws dropped after seeing what you guys are sharing. Massive kudos.
