{"id":1661,"date":"2016-05-26T03:00:46","date_gmt":"2016-05-26T10:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/?p=1661"},"modified":"2016-05-26T13:45:41","modified_gmt":"2016-05-26T20:45:41","slug":"share-links","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/share-links\/","title":{"rendered":"Share Links &amp; Cable Cars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The other day a desperate search for parking took me miles from my intended destination but\u00a0within a stones throw\u00a0of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cablecarmuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cable Car Museum<\/a>.\u00a0At first I was hesitant to stop (fearing a tourist trap), but as I approached the door to investigate I was drawn in immediately; the smell of grease\/cut metal and sounds of motors are\u00a0like Sirens to engineers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it if you&#8217;re in the area or plan a visit to San Francisco. It&#8217;s still the functioning &#8220;powerhouse&#8221; and barn, and they even have a modern machine shop for maintenance purposes. \u00a0One part of the system I found to be the most interesting was the &#8220;Grip&#8221;, seen below on the left:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1700\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-04-12-at-3.55.33-PM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-04-12 at 3.55.33 PM\" width=\"699\" height=\"408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-04-12-at-3.55.33-PM.png 699w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-04-12-at-3.55.33-PM-300x175.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 699px) 100vw, 699px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is how they attach and detach the car to the cable making it integral to the operation. Being the dork that I am, I wanted to model this up for some example simulations but as I attempt to build it, I&#8217;m realizing the\u00a0picture I took doesn&#8217;t capture all the details I need&#8230;like many 2d drawings!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To get feedback on my design from another engineer, I utilized Fusion 360&#8217;s Public\u00a0Links (or Share Links) to communicate where I&#8217;m at in my design, and why\u00a0I&#8217;m\u00a0stuck. If you haven&#8217;t used them, Share Links are well worth\u00a0the 2\u00a0minutes it takes to learn how to make and use them, so let&#8217;s see how it&#8217;s done.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>First off, to create Share Links you can do it in one of two ways. This information is crucial in order to gain a clear understanding of my design &#8211;and more importantly&#8211; my mistakes! As my design evolves, there&#8217;s no need to resend or re-generate the link\u00a0because\u00a0my colleagues just need to refresh the page or reopen the link to see my progress!\u00a0Enough talk though, <a href=\"http:\/\/a360.co\/1SLme0Z\">click this link to see the model I&#8217;ve been working on.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another option is to embed the code right into your blog or website as seen below.
