After 7 preliminary rounds of competition, the National Hardware Cup finals didn’t disappoint! Read about…
The National Hardware Cup Starts Today!
Today starts the first round of competition in the AlphaLab Gear National Hardware Cup! Over the next two months there will be 8 different pitch competitions at each of the 8 TechShops across America, kicking off in Detroit. The winners from each round will then compete in the finals at AlphaLab Gear in Pittsburgh, PA, with the big winner being awarded a spot at the hardware accelerator.
So what exactly is the National Hardware Cup? Well imagine The Joust from American Gladiators, but instead of two guys beating on each other with oversized Q-Tips, they’re jousting with the next great hardware idea. Instead of blasting the competition with tennis balls while being covered in pads, they’re shooting down questions from an esteemed panel of judges to prove that they are the best. And instead of playing for a chance to win cold hard cash, they play for…well… that part is pretty much the same. The winner takes home a $50,000 investment to turn their pitch into a reality. Of course, with Fusion 360 being the official CAD of the National Hardware Cup, the winner will also receive an array of great tools to help in the process.
