So you’re headed to Autodesk University but you don’t know what classes are a best…
Autodesk University is Almost Here. Why You Want to Be There!
Autodesk University is always a great place to learn more about the products you use every day, see what is coming in the future, and meet others just like you who are the best of the best in the Autodesk community! Until October 19th, you can get your pass for only $1,675 (students and educators get in for $1,175).
Still on the fence? Here are the top 5 reasons I’m excited to be part of the Fusion 360 community at AU this year.
5. Fusion 360 Lectures and Labs
Whether you are just getting started with Fusion 360, or you’re looking for a few tips to make your work easier, there are 24 Fusion 360 related courses to fill up your schedule. Hands on labs and lectures are being taught by over very own Technical Evangelists, Product Support team and even some of our top Fusion 360 community members. Check out a few of the offerings below or view the full list of offerings on the Autodesk University Class Catalog:
This hands-on lab will introduce the Fusion 360 3D CAD design app as a design tool for designers and engineers of all skill levels.
This class will show attendees how to use the Fusion 360 3D CAD design app for top-down assembly design and mechanisms.
This class is designed to take users through the process of machining parts using the Fusion 360 3D CAD design app’s integrated CAM capabilities.
4. Meeting with Other Top Fusion Community Members
Autodesk University is as much about networking and meeting your peers as anything else. There is no better place to meet the Autodesk Fusion 360 team, Expert Elites and others who are always helping out on the Community Forums and sharing their designs to the Gallery. This is a great opportunity to learn what others are doing with Fusion 360 and how you might be able to leverage that knowledge for your own work. Did I mention the Fusion 360 User Experience and Product Management teams are going to be there and looking for feedback? Here is your chance to provide in-person feedback to the people in charge of developing Fusion 360. Let us hear directly what you would like to see!
3. Innovation Forums Galore
AU is also a great place to learn about the latest and greatest, and we make it easy by providing a number of Innovation Forums for you to attend. Everything from the future of building design, to how products will be created in the future will be discussed. There will be participation from some great start-ups that are leveraging Fusion 360 to change the world today, as well as many other leading innovators.
Here are two that I’m definitely going to make sure to make to check out:
From traditionally complex and large systems; such as spaceships, airplanes, and cars; to everyday products connected to the Internet of Things; such as wearable fitness devices, home appliances, and car infotainment systems; the products we make are becoming increasingly complex, multi-disciplinary, and interconnected. This requires a shift in our approach to design: from defining digital 3D models of assemblies and parts to defining entire systems; from analyzing components in isolation to analyzing whole systems; from delivering a product that satisfies the technical requirements to delivering an operational capability that satisfies a business problem.
It’s clear that we’re living a world that’s volatile, uncertain, chaotic, and ambiguous. And within every industry, we’re seeing dizzying examples of new ways to make things. But what’s less clear is how organizations can systematically learn to understand, align with, and act on the broad forces of disruption. Join the MindSet Innovation Forum, which highlights essential skills to take advantage of new technologies applicable to every industry.
2. Keynote Presentations
The Keynote presentations are always a must see event at Autodesk University as well. Kicking things off with the Opening Keynote will be CEO Carl Bass and CTO Jeff Kowalski. They will be discussing the most compelling trends in design and how Autodesk is helping to start new movements. To wrap up the week, Amar Hanspal, Sr VP of IPG Product Group, will tie together the year’s ideas and trends of innovation in the AU Closing Keynote. If you haven’t attended these in the past, I strongly encourage you to do so, and if you have, you know you’ll want to be there!
1. Fusion 360 Community Events
And my #1 reason why all Fusion 360 users should want to attend AU 2014 are the community events! Why you ask? Because these events combine all of the reasons that someone would want to go to AU.
- Our UX and Gunslinger events will provide you with an outlet to try the latest software and provide feedback directly to those who create the product.
- The community gatherings will let you meet your fellow community members, hear about the future of the product, and be recognized for your great work throughout the year.
- The Fusion 360 Design Slam will showcase some unique use cases of the product while giving everyone a chance to mingle and learn about the product.
There’s definitely more to come, but these are a sampling of events to participate in.
Keep an eye out for more posts to come about additional happenings at Autodesk University, more specifics on classes and additional events to take part in. If you haven’t done so already, head to the AU website and sign up today! Have you already signed up? Let us know what you are most interested in when you get there.
