Sougwen Chung (愫君) is a Chinese-born, Canadian-raised artist.
Her work explores transitional edges - the mark-made-by-hand and the mark-made-by-machine - as an approach to understanding how technology shapes creative process and culture. Her practice spans installation, sculpture, still image, drawing, and performance. Sougwen’s work has exhibited widely, including The New Museum of Contemporary Art and The Drawing Center, New York; The National Art Center, Tokyo.
She is a former research fellow at MIT’s Media Lab and Artist-in-Residence at Google and Bell Labs. Currently, she is exploring new forms of drawing in virtual reality, with biometrics, machine learning, and robotics.
