Cesar Harada is a French-Japanese inventor, environmentalist, and entrepreneur living in Hong Kong. He is currently the director of MakerBay, Hong Kong a maker space for social & environmental impact. He is the inventor of Protei, a revolutionary shape-shifting sailing robot which combines Cesar’s passion for open hardware for the environment and citizen science with a strong focus on ocean communities and technologies.
He is a graduate from the Royal College of Arts London, Design Interactions Department, taught “Design and Environment” at Goldsmiths University, and worked at MIT as a project leader. Cesar is a TED Senior Fellow, a Figure of Progress (nominated by GOOD and IBM), an APEC Maker Awardee and COP21 opening speaker, and sailed around-the-world as part of Unreasonable at Sea, a global innovation accelerator on-board a boat. His company, Scoutbots was the StartmeUp Hong Kong Grand Award winner and listed as China's 10th most innovative company by FastCo (2015).
