Shawn HibmaCronan created an asymmetrical faceted sheet-metal motor enclosure for a vintage Ford Econoline van. After 3D scanning the interior and exposed drivetrain components, the enclosure's form was generated in CAD and then “unfolded” to create a flat pattern, which was then cut and perforated with a waterjet, then hand-bent and TIG welded.
