Part of a series of experiments that explore material shape memory, this flat pattern of leaves curl into a rose when hot air is applied. Lining uses residual stress that is inherent in plastic in the thermal reforming process of 3D printing. Heat “shrinking” is often seen as a “defect” of process but she is using as a benefit by playing with counter stress, switching between types of filaments and layers.
