Hyper Terra

Gabriel Dunne

Hyper Terra is a projection sculpture inspired by the concept of a hyper-dimensional object that can exists at any place and time. The abstract sculptural terrain represents a grounding anchor based on a chosen position on Earth, while the projections create light and shadows based on calculated Sun and Moon positions from chosen point in time -- past or future. The result is both a sculpture and a timepiece that can be viewed in actual realtime or accelerated timescales. The sculpture is fabricated with an integrated projector, embedded computer, and power supply. The sculpture can be set up with any lat/long on Earth and a point in time, while projection-mapped light and shadows are generated from actual positions of celestial bodies based on a fundamental ephemeris .
