Plan Production and Managing Data for Infrastructure Design
Overview
Deliver stronger projects with plan production using Civil 3D. Learn how to set up drawing sheets and create a sheet master drawing with drawing scales applied. Create plan and profile sheets before moving onto section master sheets where you’ll insert baseline alignment, create sample lines, and externally reference (xref) a road design model. Round out your skills by generating sheet sets and adding pipe work.
After completing this course, you’ll be able to:
- Create and work with sheets.
- Edit sheet templates.
- Use external reference (xref) to attach DWG files.
- Set viewport types.
- Create view frames.
- Insert baseline alignment and pipe network using data shortcuts.
- Set drawing scale.
- Apply styles and labels.
- Create sample lines.
- Create multiple section views.
- Generate sheet sets.

Getting started
Learn how to set up sheet templates for drawing production. In this lesson, you'll create a sheet template based on an existing template and then create and assign attributes to the title block in the Sheet Set Manager.
Civil 3D contains robust tools for creating sheets. See how to set up a drawing that uses a plan and profile master sheet.
Learn about plan and profile drawing sheet creation, then create view frames with a template. Once you've created sheets as the layouts in a drawing, you'll manage the sheets using Sheet Set Manager.
Create a cross-section master drawing using xref files for the sampling surfaces and corridors. Then discover how to create sample lines and cross section views.
Learn how to produce a cross-section master drawing. Add pipe networks to the section views then generate the section sheets as layouts in the drawing.
