{"id":9292,"date":"2019-06-25T07:00:42","date_gmt":"2019-06-25T14:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/?p=9292"},"modified":"2020-04-07T14:53:27","modified_gmt":"2020-04-07T21:53:27","slug":"burst-explode-bubble-tuesday-tips-with-brandon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/burst-explode-bubble-tuesday-tips-with-brandon\/","title":{"rendered":"Why You Should BURST Your EXPLODE Bubble: Tuesday Tips With Brandon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>For today\u2019s tip, I want to talk about the BURST command (Express Tool) in AutoCAD and go over the advantages and use cases that I think many of you could benefit from. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I feel like many AutoCAD users are familiar with the <a href=\"https:\/\/knowledge.autodesk.com\/support\/autocad-lt\/learn-explore\/caas\/CloudHelp\/cloudhelp\/2019\/ENU\/AutoCAD-LT\/files\/GUID-E98BCEF4-DED6-48A6-87EB-10FE87188083-htm.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"EXPLODE (opens in a new tab)\">EXPLODE<\/a> command and likely use it as their go-to command when they need to split up the components of blocks and objects in day-to-day drafting. If you\u2019re one of these users and haven\u2019t had the pleasure of using or learning about the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"BURST (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/knowledge.autodesk.com\/support\/autocad\/learn-explore\/caas\/CloudHelp\/cloudhelp\/2019\/ENU\/AutoCAD-Core\/files\/GUID-8B576DFE-377C-408C-B6BE-672EE46AEED2-htm.html\" target=\"_blank\">BURST<\/a> command, you might be surprised that in many cases you probably want to be using it instead of the EXPLODE command. It\u2019s time to BURST your EXPLODE bubble!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BURST is best used any time you need to explode a block or object but would like to preserve the Attribute values of the block instead of reverting them back to the default value. If you were to use the EXPLODE command, the block layers are also preserved when using the BURST command. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look at the differences between BURST and EXPLODE here. I\u2019ve used the BURST command on it and, in turn, retained those attributes while still reducing the block down to mtext and lines. In the example I also used the EXPLODE command (in the bottom right) on the block to show how the EXPLODE command will revert the attributes back to their default values in the process, making the resulting Lines and Text somewhat useless. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s all for my Tuesday tip on the BURST command. Hopefully you\u2019ve enjoyed learning about the advantages of BURST over EXPLODE, and it can be incorporated into your regular workflow and toolbox of helpful AutoCAD commands.
