What\u2019s a drafter to do when a block of notes has been typed in mixed case by an engineer, and your workflow is made fastest by simply copying and pasting that text into an MTEXT object? What\u2019s a modern-day drafter to do?<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"express-tools-to-the-rescue\">Express Tools to the Rescue<\/h2>\n<p>There are some really handy tools in the Text panel of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/search-ets-autocad-express-tools-tuesday-tips-frank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Express<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/search-ets-autocad-express-tools-tuesday-tips-frank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tools<\/a> menu. What we\u2019re looking for though, is hidden by default under the large Modify Text icon. Click on the pulldown for that tool, and you\u2019ll find Change Case.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9078\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Text-Case_1_r06jsk.jpg\" alt=\"Change Case AutoCAD\" width=\"1111\" height=\"569\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Text-Case_1_r06jsk.jpg 1111w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Text-Case_1_r06jsk-300x154.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Text-Case_1_r06jsk-1024x524.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Text-Case_1_r06jsk-768x393.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1111px) 100vw, 1111px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Run the tool, and you\u2019ll be prompted to select your text. Once selected, you\u2019ll be prompted with the TCASE dialog (you can also access this Express Tool by typing TCASE on the command line).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9079\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Text-Case_2_rxaf8k.jpg\" alt=\"Change Case AutoCAD\" width=\"958\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Text-Case_2_rxaf8k.jpg 958w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Text-Case_2_rxaf8k-300x147.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Text-Case_2_rxaf8k-768x375.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 958px) 100vw, 958px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By default, UPPERCASE is selected, but should you need to, you can select any of the other options. However, we\u2019re after a quick way to change a lot of lowercase text to uppercase. Click OK, and voila! In just a few clicks, we\u2019ve met our CAD standard, and we\u2019re off to our next task.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"but-wait-theres-more\">But Wait, There\u2019s More!<\/h2>\n<p>Today, I\u2019ve touched on the Text Case tool under the Modify Text icon. Within that are other tools that allow you to explode your text, rotate it to be right-reading, fit it between two points, and even quickly change the justification. There are a dozen cool tools altogether in the ET:Text panel. Check them all out sometime and keep them in your back pocket.
