Using a plot stamp is a simple way to avoid mistakes and confusion with multiple plots of the same drawing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"adding-a-plot-stamp\">Adding a Plot Stamp<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a couple of ways to add a plot stamp to your drawings, which I\u2019ll discuss here. The first is built into AutoCAD. You can access it from the Options dialog. From the Plot and Publish tab, click on the Plot Stamp Settings button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"733\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_1_wfq9uu.jpg\" alt=\"plot stamp settings AutoCAD\" class=\"wp-image-8914\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_1_wfq9uu.jpg 733w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_1_wfq9uu-300x244.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 733px) 100vw, 733px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll get the Settings dialog as shown below, where you can choose the fields you want to display, add your own, and save or load an existing parameters file. To further define your Plot Stamp display, click on the Advanced button. You\u2019ll get a second dialog where you can define things such as the location, the orientation, font, units, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1096\" height=\"402\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_2_t0nfvl.jpg\" alt=\"Plot Stamp AutoCAD advanced\" class=\"wp-image-8915\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_2_t0nfvl.jpg 1096w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_2_t0nfvl-300x110.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_2_t0nfvl-1024x376.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_2_t0nfvl-768x282.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1096px) 100vw, 1096px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>When using the built-in Plot Stamp function, you won\u2019t actually see the stamp in your drawing file, but it will show up when you plot. However, you do have to tell the Plot command to turn it on by checking the box as shown below in the right-side (expanded) area of the plot dialog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also note that a stamp icon will appear when checked. This is another way to get to the main Plot Stamp dialog in addition to going through Options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"278\" height=\"250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_3_mzwc6r.jpg\" alt=\"Plot stamp options AutoCAD\" class=\"wp-image-8916\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Once set up, you\u2019ll get a stamp on your plots that may look similar to this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"674\" height=\"88\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_4_ep6fvd.jpg\" alt=\"plot stamp AutoCAD\" class=\"wp-image-8917\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_4_ep6fvd.jpg 674w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_4_ep6fvd-300x39.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 674px) 100vw, 674px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a good starting point, and certainly better than nothing, but it is a bit limited both in information available to display and flexibility in formatting. There is another way to create Plot Stamps, which is my preference, as I can customize the stamp to my needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"plot-stamp-fields\">Plot Stamp Fields<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is a typical stamp I\u2019ve used before. I like labels and formatting better. Plus, it\u2019s much more flexible, and it is visible in the actual drawing file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1243\" height=\"184\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_5_s0ags1.jpg\" alt=\"Plot Stamp Fields AutoCAD\" class=\"wp-image-8918\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_5_s0ags1.jpg 1243w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_5_s0ags1-300x44.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_5_s0ags1-1024x152.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/PlotStamp_5_s0ags1-768x114.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1243px) 100vw, 1243px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Creating this type of Plot Stamp is as easy as writing a line or two of MTEXT. Define the location, text height, and style in your title block drawing, then apply the appropriate Field to the portion of the text you want to display. Not sure exactly how to use Fields? Note all the different formatting options.
