Since the plot stamp is actually an Mtext object, you can view and modify its appearance in the intuitive Mtext editor without having to first plot the drawing. Add the plot stamp to your current drawing or save it in a drawing template so that it\u2019s automatically included in any new drawings that you create. The field values automatically update to display data based on the new drawing. You can even copy the plot stamp into an existing drawing with the assurance that the field data will update accordingly. If the field can\u2019t be evaluated, it displays dashes \u201c&#8212;-\u201c. For example, AutoCAD can\u2019t evaluate the PlotDate field until the drawing is actually plotted. But, rest assured it will be included on the plotted drawing!<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"object-data\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8444\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Fields02_hqep46.jpg\" alt=\"AutoCAD Fields\" width=\"754\" height=\"471\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Fields02_hqep46.jpg 754w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Fields02_hqep46-300x187.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 754px) 100vw, 754px\" \/><\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>Object Data<\/h2>\n<p>You can use fields to display information about a selected object. For example, you can display the diameter of a circle or the area of hatch. You can use fields to automate the data in view labels, callout blocks, and title blocks by managing that data from a central location within the project\u2019s sheet set.<\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8446\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Fields04_nc0yxj.jpg\" alt=\"AutoCAD Fields\" width=\"800\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Fields04_nc0yxj.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Fields04_nc0yxj-300x130.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.autodesk.com/blogs\/autocad\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2020\/04\/Fields04_nc0yxj-768x332.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/em>When inserting a field, the field category and name that you choose depends on the data that you want to display. If you want to display the plot date, for example, select the Plot field category. Depending on the field that you choose, you may have the option to select from various formats such as month\/day\/year or year-month-day. To display object data, such as the hatch area, you select the Objects field category.
