Now that you have some<\/a> ideas<\/a> on when to use the AutoCAD web app, have you tried using it to edit DWGs online? Let\u2019s explore some of your favorite desktop features now available in the app.<\/p>\n

Editing DWGs \u2014 MOVE, TRIM, and PLINE<\/h2>\n

MOVE<\/h3>\n

Let\u2019s start simple: moving objects from one place to another:<\/p>\n

\"Editing<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Click the MOVE icon:\u00a0\"AutoCAD<\/li>\n
  2. Select the objects to move.<\/li>\n
  3. Press Enter.<\/li>\n
  4. Specify a base point for the move.<\/li>\n
  5. Specify a second point.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    That\u2019s it! The objects you\u2019ve selected are then moved to a new location determined by the distance and direction between the first and second points.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    FYI:\u00a0<\/strong>As of this article\u2019s publication, the AutoCAD web app does not yet have a key-in input for certain commands, including MOVE. However, you can still use Object Snaps<\/a> to determine precise distances.<\/p>\n

    TRIM<\/h3>\n

    Need to trim an object? Check out this 2-step process:<\/p>\n

    \"Editing<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Click the TRIM icon:\u00a0\"AutoCAD<\/li>\n
    2. Select the portion of the object to trim.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      And, well, the portion of the object that lies between intersecting edges gets deleted. Super simple, right?<\/p>\n

      PLINE<\/h3>\n

      Finally, let\u2019s try drafting one of our old friends, the polyline. Here\u2019s what you do:<\/p>\n

      \"Editing<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Click the PLINE icon:\"AutoCAD<\/li>\n
      2. Specify the first point of the polyline.<\/li>\n
      3. Specify the endpoint of the first segment.<\/li>\n
      4. Continue specifying segments as needed.<\/li>\n
      5. Press Enter to end the command, or choose Close Shape to close the polyline to its original start point.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Note:<\/strong> Polylines can be composed of straight lines or arcs. You can switch between Line and Arc by choosing the desired option in the command palette.<\/p>\n
