Many users know and use the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/knowledge.autodesk.com\/support\/autocad-lt\/learn-explore\/caas\/CloudHelp\/cloudhelp\/2019\/ENU\/AutoCAD-LT\/files\/GUID-1502A914-B534-4791-BB91-1C6C03594236-htm.html\" target=\"_blank\">viewport layer freezing<\/a> abilities within AutoCAD, but I\u2019ve seen very few take advantage of some of the other options available to us with <a href=\"https:\/\/knowledge.autodesk.com\/support\/autocad-architecture\/learn-explore\/caas\/CloudHelp\/cloudhelp\/2019\/ENU\/AutoCAD-Architecture\/files\/GUID-8909084C-770C-41A3-A782-CCABE9DC433A-htm.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AutoCAD viewport overrides<\/a>. (And you can also check out my full step-by-step video of these options at the end of this article, too!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open up the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/knowledge.autodesk.com\/support\/autocad-architecture\/learn-explore\/caas\/CloudHelp\/cloudhelp\/2020\/ENU\/AutoCAD-Architecture\/files\/GUID-04A427DC-85B3-4B90-AA84-6B0F5C017036-htm.html\" target=\"_blank\">Layer Properties Manager<\/a> and take a look at the options available. In the viewport on the left we are going to gray out all of the objects except for the doors using the layer controls. For this example, a light gray will work nicely. Today\u2019s example is just one simple way that they can be helpful. The same process can even be used to change properties of layers within xrefs, which can be very handy and especially when using an xref for background information in a viewport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s all for today!
