Fusion 360 software is available at no cost to all Product Design Suite 2015 software subscribers. The goal of this class is to explain what Fusion 360 software is, what is new, what is coming, and also to share how subscribers of Product Design Suite 2015 can take advantage of the software’s functionality. Fusion 360 software is a cloud-based 3D CAD/CAM tool for product development that enables product teams and stakeholders to work together within an integrated design, engineering, and fabrication experience across platforms and devices. In this new way of working, users have the context to understand all aspects of a project and to collaborate with anyone and everyone, at any time. With Fusion 360 software, gone are the days of traditional data management and fragmented ways of working together on design projects.

During Autodesk University 2021, we shared a developed workflow for how designers can bring data together through designing the part, the PCB, and even how to manufacture the plastic components. With the complexity of electronic part designs, there are often various aspects that need to be considered for the part to both work and perform as expected. In this class, we will demonstrate how the Fusion 360 workflow has matured to incorporate mechanical engineering aspects to smooth this product design workflow. We will use a sample product, the Autodesk University Digital Badge, to demo how to integrate mechanical design requirements and simulation into the product design process.

The class combines quick demos and project examples in areas such as consumer products, sports equipment, and packaging. Attendees discover how Fusion 360 makes it easy to turn early concepts into final designs as part of the Autodesk® Product Design Suite. The class also highlights the exciting opportunities that Fusion 360 provides for cloud-based collaboration, thanks to the Autodesk® 360 cloud services hub.

Generative design is a hot topic, but existing manufacturing methods like casting and injection molding seem to be hiding behind the curtains. This presentation will focus less so on additive manufacturing and more so on mass manufacturing methods currently being used industry wide. By leveraging existing generative design technology with casting and injection molding best practices, we can re-shape how current product design for manufacturing workflows can be achieved. By demonstrating the capabilities of new generative design technology, this talk will expose the new feature enhancements showcasing a realistic approach to the manufacturing and product design world which can be implemented into product design and manufacturing workflows today.

We will demonstrate the best practices for using Plastic Part Rules to control your design and capture know-how for easy creation, editing and reuse. In addition we will share tips and tricks for creating complex geometric patterns and use Presets.

In this class, we will take you on a tour of Autodesk® Product Design Suite 2013. We will show you what you can do with this flexible set of tools that are specialized in 3D mechanical design, simulation, tooling, electrical design, visualization, documentation, and collaboration. Using the design suite tools, you can evaluate and optimize machines while exchanging information with others throughout the design workflow. You will learn what you can accomplish by combining the Digital Prototyping capabilities of Autodesk® Inventor® software with enhanced design, visualization, and cloud services tools to reduce development costs and get machine designs to your clients faster and with less rework.

This class will cover the fundamental concepts of programming in Inventor HSM, and Fusion 360 HSM, including the milling and turning applications. Attendees should expect to learn core concepts necessary for CNC programming any part as well as general best practices.
