I’ll also give some specific technical tips and tricks to help engineers get the most out of their Revit software systems and spaces.

Many of the products we design and finally use are developed in mechanical CAD software. However, in almost all products, you’ll also find an electronic part. Without them, most products would be pointless. With the two Autodesk programs Fusion 360 software and EAGLE software, these two worlds grow together. This class will provide insight into the world of electronics. We intend to explain very basic things: What is a printed circuit board (PCB) and how is it manufactured? Which electronic components are used? How is an electronic layout created in EAGLE and how can a mechanical engineer use, change, and create a layout in Fusion 360? These basic questions will be explained using some illustrative examples.

Much of a mechanical engineer's time can be spent doing calculations by hand, checking schedules against layouts and schematics, and manually sizing pipes and ducts; this can be very boring, and is likely to lead to inconsistencies in your deliverables. Revit software has the capability to link your 3D model, drawings, schedules, and calculations all together in one place, saving you precious time that should be spent on designing rather than adding up. This class will use live demos and presentation material to showcase new features like analytical pipe connectors, and old ones like pipe sizing, treatment plans, and calculations in families. You will also see some examples of Dynamo scripts and add-ins that we have developed to speed up our design processes and add intelligence to our models. This will be a guide to understanding how CAD data benefits print, digital, and immersive deployments involving augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). We will look at a strategic and tactical approach to implementing CAD data into CG visualization and immersive developments for training and technical communication within manufacturing. This talk will focus on the benefits and pitfalls of translating CAD data into functional CG assets for print (ILT), digital (WBT), and immersive (AR/ VR) deployments. Topics will include: better utilizing your product lifecycle management (PLM) and specific export formats into 3ds Max software; and creating Levels of Development (LODs) to target high-resolution output (print and animation) and low-resolution for real-time environments (AR/VR). We’ll also discuss why UV unwrap is painful but necessary for “the bake” and methods that embrace it. Lastly, building immersive experiences doesn’t always mean its training material.

This course is an intro to electronics design using Autodesk EAGLE and focuses on practical electronics for the non-EE.Spend 60 minutes learning about the design and fabrication of the most fundamental of elements in any electronic system, the Printed Circuit Board (PCB).In this course, we will learn what a PCB is and even design our own PCBs from scratch.We will learn the range of modular electronics options available which simplify electronics design and make design accessible for non-engineers.

Looking for an easy way to add wireless communications to a project? Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee? Wireless electronics is considered by many to be a dark art, even electrical engineers! However, today’s modular hardware and simplified software resources has made it possible for even nonelectrical engineers to successfully add wireless communications to their designs. This course is for mechanical engineers, industrial designers, architects, and software engineers looking to control objects wirelessly or gather data from devices or systems remotely. Spend time with us learning to add Wi-Fi to your next project! Using Eagle, we will build a small sensor-based system that posts data to the cloud and responds to commands from your browser. Some familiarity with embedded software platforms, including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar will be helpful but is not required. Familiarity with breadboarding concepts will also be helpful.

The framework of the discussion will consider the LOD Specification that defines models on a scale of 100 to 500, with a particular focus of LOD 350, which the speaker originally authored and introduced to the LOD Specification committee. The content will discuss how architects, mechanical engineers, construction managers, subcontractors, and fabricators use structural element models. This will demonstrate how to use the newly issued LOD Specification to define team expectations of what should be modeled. We will show practical examples of model detail issues, along with effective approaches to resolving the challenges using the LOD Specification as an early Building Information Modeling (BIM) planning tool.
