How often have you made a simple change to a part file in Autodesk Inventor, only to return to the assembly and have it explode? I know that this has happend to you. It's happened to me too. In this class, we will learn simple and effective strategies for building parametric, stable assemblies that can easily be updated. We will discuss best practice for structuring assemblies and how to scale when working with large assemblies. We will learn how to use relationships effectively, and when to use the alternatives. We will learn how to prepare a design for top-down parametric change, and how we can trigger changes using iLogic. Finally, we will learn how to document our design intent to ensure that our colleagues can work with our assemblies as effectively as we can.

Horizontal machining centers (HMCs) have many advantages, and some disadvantages, over their counterpart. Many struggle with efficiently programming or getting started programming HMCs. This Fusion 360 instructional class will advise different workflows on setting up and programming an HMC. We'll demonstrate tips and tricks to make programming and machining times quicker and more efficient. Micromachining is a notoriously demanding process that requires precision beyond levels that most machine shops are comfortable with. However, any shop can take on micromachining jobs with the right cutting tools, machines, accessories, and some knowledge on the differences between traditional machining and the nuances that micromachining brings with it. In this session, we will dive into strategies for successful micromachining, covering both micromilling and microturning applications. We will talk about cutting-tool selection and how it can differ from traditional machining standards, how miniature tooling reacts differently in the cut than larger tooling, and ways that you can take your machines to the next level with high-speed spindles and accessories.

The Inventor software Content Center is a powerful tool that enables centralized storage and management of standard parts within a company, as well as providing a springboard to efficient design tools such as Frame Generator, Bolted Connections, and Tube and Pipe. However, to make the tool as flexible as possible, the Content Center uses highly technical names for components (ANSI, and so on). Perhaps you like to label your pan head machine screws as “ANSI.B18.6.3…” but that doesn’t work for many others. Additionally, while the out-of-the-box Content Center is extensive, it does not contain any of our specific components. So, whether you decide to use a vendor’s or your own part numbers, or you want to utilize existing data or add your own, this is the class for you. In this course, we’ll cover how to build custom Content Center structure, how to modify existing data or publish our own data, and how to simplify the end user’s experience and ensure data serves downstream processes. In every way, we will make the Content Center our own!
