People have used Vault software primarily to manage engineering workflows and change orders and documents. For the typical architecture, engineering, and infrastructure workflows, a large component of every project consists of the development and publication of geographic information system (GIS) reports, planning maps, and detailed analysis that incorporates both construction documents and GIS files. In this class you will learn how to use Vault software in the context of AutoCAD Map 3D software, Esri's ArcGIS, Esri's ArcMap, and Esri's ArcCatalog GIS, with a simple plug-in developed with the Vault software API (application programming interface). We will demonstrate how to integrate ArcMap templates, SHP files, data connections, layers, and other GIS data sources with the Vault software to significantly improve the efficiency of the architecture, engineering, and infrastructure design process.

How to integrate Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information System (GIS) with Autodesk solutions and ESRI solutions for asset management. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have long been used to model the environment and perform 2D spatial analyzes of large areas. However, with the increasing availability of computing power, data acquisition methods, and automated workflows that generate detailed 3D data, GIS models became more and more detailed and began to contain 3D models. . Through the bridge and tunnel project, we modeled the project in 3D using Revit. Templates were stored in ACC. We used Esri mobility tools (offline and online) to collect site data and populate a GIS database. After that we linked the Revit models to ArcGIS, then we could see the 3D models in the environment. We also added maintenance attributes and we were able to communicate.

In this class participants will learn how to maximize the use of AutoCAD Map 3D software source drawings in a multiuser CAD environment. We will talk about supplying the DWG� geographic information system (GIS) CAD format for users' business needs. We will also cover the process of building source drawings from Oracle Spatial sources, and we'll discuss the distribution of source drawings across a WAN DFS system. Finally, we will cover source drawings and the mobile CAD user.

AutoCAD 2014 software saw greatly improved geolocation capabilities, including features such as a library of geographic information system (GIS) coordinate systems, live map data, automatic transformation of external references, and faster images—as well as GPS support. AutoCAD 2015 software added a number of new features as well as an extensive set of APIs. In this session we will introduce these new features as well as dive into the geolocation APIs and develop a sample application demonstrating how developers can use this new functionality to create location-aware applications in AutoCAD software.

This class will cover the development of an InfraWorks software model from a wide variety of data sources. We will examine the various subjects, including the importation of geographic information system (GIS) raster and vector data, 3D models, civil 3D surfaces and alignments, creation of custom 3D models in 3ds Max software, and use of storyboard and export to create compelling project videos. We will examine workflows of an actual project and we'll focus on the process used to develop an InfraWorks software model for the modernization of a generating facility in Tempe, Arizona. This model has been used in the public outreach process.

Engineers and designers often have minimal existing data when they are asked to provide preliminary designs for roadways, utilities, and infrastructure. An advantage of using AutoCAD Civil 3D software for preliminary design is the software's ability to access and use data available through geographic information system (GIS). Before ground survey is available, you can retrieve surface data, political boundaries, roadways, and water feature information directly from GIS and reference it into AutoCAD Civil 3D software. When the preliminary design is complete and the ground survey and other data becomes available, you can move straight into production by swapping out the GIS data and using the design information generated in AutoCAD Civil 3D software. Complete the "round trip" by exporting design and record data from AutoCAD Civil 3D software back into GIS, making it available for the next project.

This session will present how an enlightened building owner (The Ohio State University) has successfully partnered/collaborated with both a Building Information Modeling (BIM)-savvy architect and contractor to develop a BIM project delivery standard that enables the model to serve as a single source of truth for relevant spatial and asset information throughout the building lifecycle. This delivery standard has truly begun with the end in mind by taking advantage of the knowledge gained from the BIM for the existing buildings portion of the Buckeye BIM Initiative. We'll highlight how the .RVT portion of this deliverable will work in collaboration with Revit software's COBie Toolkit-structured data to facilitate its utilization in asset management, space tracking, geographical information system (GIS), and sustainability. Lastly, we will highlight the need to implement Technology Solutions and workflows to enable the use of the model across the university and to support interoperability with other data systems.

How many times do we re-create and re-engineer design data? Wouldn't it be nice to work with Autodesk, Inc., design tools and directly use existing geographic information system (GIS) data to store and retrieve data regardless of data format? There is always a difference between the design-mode land GIS model that makes this process costly and inefficient. This class will demonstrate how you can configure and use the AcClassify GIS data utility to translate data (round-trip and on the fly) to and from your enterprise GIS. You will learn how to use the AcClassify data utility to define profiles that encapsulate the complexities of data model transformation, and you will see how AcClassify works with the current AutoCAD Utility Design software data exchange (DX) adaptor to create a smooth workflow. You will also see how to use AcClassify for many other dynamic transformations, including those between Autodesk design tools and the cloud.

This class will discuss the lessons URS Corporation learned when dealing with a large project area covering over 37,500 square miles of the Navaho Nation. URS developed a workflow to apply the client's imagery and topographical data, which utilized over 3225 digital elevation models (DEMs) and 37 enhanced compression wavelet (ECW) files. Navaho Nation asked URS to develop several 3D fly-through educational videos displaying identified flood hazards over this model to show impacts on housing projects. Multiple teams developed data using geographic information system (GIS) applications. They then transferred the data to InfraWorks software to develop the product. The Project Team had originally intended to use 3ds Max software but transitioned to InfraWorks software due to its ability to auto project and symbolize the GIS data in 3D. This project was a huge success because of the ability of InfraWorks software to work with native GIS data.

With over $1 billion worth of work planned over the next 5 years plus the possibility of permission being granted for the construction of a second runway, it is essential that Gatwick Airport has access to up-to-date, accurate information with regards to the critical infrastructure that keeps the airport operational. This class aims to describe the existing systems that were in place, along with the issues that have arisen as a result of having incorrect geospatial data on buried utilities. We will then describe how we realized the solution to this problem using AIMS Technology, which we will host in a cloud environment utilizing mobile tools in the field to view and update incorrect data. We will also describe how we could use the power of the crowd to perform mass updates on these data sets and the enhancements we have planned to support the airport operation, linking it to third-party systems such as Maximo and making it an integral part of our resilience planning.
