Decathlon, the most preferred brand in France and the European sporting goods retailer, looks to the future of design through the lens of Generative Design and Sustainability. Charles Cambianica, Advanced Design Co-Leader at Decathlon, presented two years ago how Generative Design helps Decathlon to reimagine the bike of the Future. Today, evangelize this to the brand passion, his team continue to promote the use of Generative Design to create new ways of making new products. To help optimize the process, the project teams of Charles decided to use computational design as an exploratory tool. Decathlon wanted to observe how Generative Design could be used starting in the design phase and consequently wanted to shrink the carbon footprint of the thousands of products it manufactures each year.

This hands-on lab will introduce the Fusion 360 3D CAD design app as a design tool for designers and engineers of all skill levels. We will focus on the basic functional areas of the Fusion 360 app and lead the attendees through the modeling of a simple consumer product. We will cover T-Spline form creation, basic solid modeling and assembly, and materials and rendering.

Inventor 2015 software offers a new modeling approach that gives users more alternatives, flexibility, and freedom to design models with smooth and flowing shapes commonly found in consumer products. Attend this class and learn how to start using this new modeling technique to create very complex and stylized designs. Learn how to select the suitable technique for your design, choosing between conventional and free-form modeling methods. You will also learn how to combine both modeling techniques when needed.

You can see plastic injection moulded parts everywhere. From the consumer products and children's toys in our homes all the way through to the interiors of the cars we drive. With the addition of injection moulding simulation tools and the Product Design extension in Fusion 360, there is now the opportunity to take the design of injection moulded components all the way from concept through to design, manufacturing validation and tooling manufacture all without ever leaving Fusion. So that's what we'll do. We'll follow the whole process from start to finish. We'll look at designing a part, designing the mould, validating the mould, cutting chips on the CNC to make the mould and finally producing the part.

This technical instruction will provide attendees with techniques and methods to improve their development process when creating large assemblies.
