In this class we will explain what drawing processes are and how you can properly use them. Then we will cover the configuration of drawing processes through the Drawing Process Manager, with indication of frequently used options and settings. This class will also include configuration and workflow tips for an efficient way of using drawing processes.

When it comes to consistent and precise corridor design, it’s all about knowing where you’re going before you even start, especially when it comes to generating accurate earthwork quantities and surfaces that could be handed over for construction purposes. We’ll go over many questions to think about before pushing that assembly through your entire project. We’ll dive into opinions on out-of-the-box subassemblies versus creating your own custom subassemblies, and review some key ones that we’ve created to help streamline the design process. We’ll then cover setting up codes set styles not only to help visualize surface creation but also materials that we can use for quantities. Next, we’ll look at different approaches to modeling unique design elements, and when to throw in the towel on others. We’ll also review surface creation of not only proposed ground but also areas for removal, to help with more-accurate quantities when utilizing tin subtraction and/or average end area.

This session will focus on transfer of steel fabrication elements from Revit software to Advance Steel software and back. There have been many changes in recent years, so for users and managers of these systems, it is sometimes difficult to understand the background process being used. Therefore, we’ll focus upon the various database types, tables, and locations, and what’s used for which parts of the process, so users can understand how to manage this operation in both platforms to achieve a successful collaboration. We’ll see how the correct use of the mapping database and creation of elements in both software systems, as a management operation, enables a smooth transfer, which is very important in multidisciplinary organizations—so CAD managers understand the need for this processing. Have correct Revit families created to the steel fabrication format, materials identified and mapped, and connection instances created.

Interactive Patient Room Experience in VR is giving great opportunities to medical professionals to understand the layout and the overall clinical flow within the units, which helps designers create functional clinical spaces that elevate the patient and staff experience. As an alternative to costly physical mockups, we have built an interactive patient room that is fully responsive to the user's preferences. Experiencing the interactive environment in a virtual world helps medical professionals load different 3D medical equipment, change materials and finishes, and understand the relationship of the equipment with the users. we'll show you several examples where we used VR as an interactive health-care planning and design tool.

As a first step, we established 10 project performance indicators and asked people across 54 projects to give us their input. The performance indicators measured the BIM implementation maturity for the projects at a quarterly basis. These performance indicators were developed keeping the ISO19650 -1 and 2 standards, and the digital construction targets of Royal BAM Group in mind. A survey based on the performance indicators was sent out to each project team. The recipients included a mix of people from different departments. We surveyed people in different roles such as project and design managers, project superintendents, estimators, planners, site personnel and more, about their understanding on the level of BIM implementation with respect to each of the performance indicators. By doing this we were able to measure both hard and soft data. The hard data included items such as different BIM applications which were being used on a project, the project’s exchange information requirements, etc. and the soft data included areas such as training and knowledge requirements, and other items that influence the human performance on site.

Modern communication lets people to talk to each other almost anywhere at any time. But using audio and video conferencing is very different than face-to-face communication. In this talk, we will show how we can use augmented reality (AR), reality capturing, and Autodesk technologies to create new types of connected design collaboration experiences that overcome limitations of traditional technology. We will share how to turn intelligent models with 3ds Max software into immersive experiences. We will show how 3D capture technology lets 3D models of people be captured and transmitted to different locations. When combined with AR displays such as Microsoft HoloLens, these technologies let users see, hear, and interact with remote participants in 3D as if they were actually present in the same physical space, and at the same time collaborate with 3D design models. This enables engineers to collaborate over distance, provides a deeper understanding of the design, and enables better-informed decisions in less time.
