Upskill to Backfill: How can industry scale to meet future of work demands?


In this discussion, panelists will share their points of view on challenges faced by industry when it comes to upskilling an incumbent workforce. It is estimated that over 80 percent of workers needed ten years from now are already in the workforce. Recent surveys suggest, as high as 87 percent of employers say they are either experiencing gaps now or expect them within a few years time.
Yung Wu, CEO of MaRS Discovery District and Radha Mistry, Foresight Practice Lead, Autodesk will provide a vision of the future of work rooted in weak signals of change. Kelly Kupcak, Executive Director, Oregon Women in the Trades will ground the discussion by highlighting real-world examples of reskilling and backfilling a diverse workforce. Lastly, Pat Scruggs, President, Scruggs & Associates LLC will offer a “So what?” overview of how we can meet skill gap demands at a meaningful scale.
