How Visual Programming Languages Can Enhance BIM Workflows for SME's
Class ID: AS500589
Product(s): AutoCAD, Dynamo Studio, Revit
Topics: Automation, Building Design, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Computational Design, Sustainability

Session Description

In the AEC industry, BIM has been adopted mainly by big companies. According to the NBS National BIM Report (2021), UK BIM adoption is around 71%. Since 2018, this figure has not changed. Also, the UKBIMA State of the Nation Survey Report 2021 indicates that implementation levels are proportionally highest in large organisations (81%) and lowest in small organisations (57%). These figures may partly reflect the effect on publicly funded projects of the BIM mandate, but may also correspond to the size of practices and projects. It is likely that small, one-off housing project customers are less likely to be aware of and request BIM.

In this session, we will focus not only on BIM adoption for Small and Medium Companies but how they can get the most out of technologies such as Visual Programming Languages (Dynamo) in order to use them to their full advantage and improve their current workflows - saving time and money.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify key factors for lack of BIM implementation within SME’s
  2. Illustrate how SMEs can benefit from this type of technology in order to make their workflows easier to manage
  3. Apply automation techniques to your designs and daily workflows to save time and money
  4. Improve collaboration with external project stakeholders
