    Create different user groups according to role or level of access. For example, a manager can customize the views in TruNest for machine operators to see only orders and nests that will be run on particular machines. You can also assign some users, like user administrators or managers, to multiple groups. Users assigned to multiple groups can switch between different TruNest views.

    TruNest validates the user's group settings through single user authentication sign-in and displays only the information and functionalities relevant to that user. This allows for greater security and fewer chances of mistakes.

    Multiple users can connect to TruNest at the same time from different client computers. TruNest nesting software supports part lifecycle management. Nests can be run on a centralized server rather than on a client computer.

  • Translate part data from many sources

    TruNest nesting software uses the SmarTran universal translator. Collect part data for nesting from various sources, including DXF, DWG™, IPT, and IAM files.

    SmarTran performs validity checks to ensure that all part geometries are suitable for nesting, including:

    • Closed shape check
    • Removing duplicate and overlapping geometry
    • Converting small, jagged line segments to arcs and splines, which are better for cutting
  • Automatic part assembly

    TruNest Contour, TruNest Multi-Tool, TruNest Composites

    Get all the functionality of SmarTran, plus the ability to interpret metadata contained in the original CAD file. Metadata includes part name, assembly name, and material designation. This information automatically populates the tables required to generate a nest for your parts.

  • Reverse engineer legacy data

    TruNest Contour, TruNest Multi-Tool, TruNest Composites

    TruNest nesting software translates CAD formats and converts old NC (numerical control) code from legacy programs into usable CAD data. Translate this information directly into TruNest for re-nesting, or into a neutral file format, such as DXF, for editing before nesting. This feature is available at an additional cost.

    Manually select parts for translation or pull them automatically from a PDM system such as Vault PDM software.

    For example, when a new order is received for a specific part or assembly, TruNest:

    • Logs into the PDM system and validates that the part or assembly has been released for production
    • Checks out the most recent revision of the part or assembly
    • And automatically translates the part or assembly data into TruNest for nesting

    Scheduling and reporting

  • Add orders until nesting time

    Place 1 or more parts or assemblies into an active order. Continue to add more parts or assemblies until nesting time. This increases nesting efficiency by enabling multiple assemblies or orders to be nested on similar materials.

  • Dynamic order scheduling

    TruNest Contour, TruNest Multi-Tool, TruNest Composites

    TruNest nesting software provides a dynamic order scheduling for high-efficiency nesting.

    • When the cut date is reached for an order, all of the parts or assemblies for each material are gathered and nested together.
    • If the nested result doesn’t reach the desired efficiency for that material, the order is sent back into scheduling for more parts or assemblies to be added.

    The scheduling system can continue to reject any nested results until the desired material efficiency is achieved.

  • ERP/MRP system integration

    TruNest can connect directly to an ERP (enterprise resource planning) system, such as SAP, to automatically schedule any new orders and nest them, based on the daily or weekly workload. With TruNest nesting software, you can automate order scheduling or manually adjust the schedule as new orders come in. This feature is available at an additional cost.

    Get automatically generated reports, as each nest is computed. Visual and text-based reports contain material efficiency, total cost, tool wear, and machining time, which are useful information for planning and calculating cost savings.

    Export TruNest reports into any standard report format for clients. Supported report formats include PDF, HTML, and Crystal Reports.

MRP (material requirements planning) data get fed automatically back into the ERP system, such as SAP, for the order management system to use for the next round of manufacturing.     TruNest Composites nesting and cutting software automates the flat data export process. Special translators for FiberSIM and CPD (Composite Part Design) workbench data bring in composite part data in just 2 steps: a single click of a button in the design package, followed by 1 button click in TruNest. TruNest keeps track of the ply/sequence names, material type, and orientation for each ply.

  • Flat ply splitting

    Split flat, wide composite plies, so each cut piece fits the width of your chosen material roll exactly. TruNest Composites returns a list of plies that don’t fit on the roll, which is very useful information when nesting whole plies.

  • Skeleton cutting/auto destruct cycle

    Optimize machining processes at the end of the cutting cycle. Easily unload parts from the table. Cut the remaining skeleton and scrap materials into small, manageable pieces. Destroy any interior holes, so there are no floating scraps left inside holes to collide with the cutting head.

    Automatically hold each part in place during cutting, using small pieces of materials called tabs. A list of customizable rules controls the size and location of tabs, ensuring the correct size, number, and location of tabs for each part.

  • Head-down logic for pierce reduction

    TruNest optimizes the starting cut positions, so that cutting operations use the minimum number of pierces on each nest. TruNest software minimizes the number of times the machine stops cutting and requiring a new piercing movement in-between parts.

    Because many cutting technologies take more time to pierce than to cut already pierced material, the advanced cutting logic used by TruNest helps make cutting and piercing operations faster and more efficient.
