Tips and Tricks Autodesk Buzzsaw Member Tip: Starting a Discussion Thread when Adding or Updating a FileDiscussion Threads and Comments are a quick and easy way for project team members to communicate with each other on design problems, changes, or general project issues. Discussion threads are comments about a particular file. They are organized and linked to a specific file including notes and links. The Discussions tab displays all the discussion threads that are attached to the selected file. You do not have to be an active participant in discussions to read them. Discussion threads cannot be deleted unless the associated file is deleted. When the file is deleted, all the connected discussion threads are permanently removed from the site.
All permission levels except list can view discussions. You must have administrator, edit, update or review permission to participate in discussion threads (start or reply to a comment). If you have view or deposit permission you can only read and print the information in discussion threads. If you have list permission you can not view the Discussions tab.
1. When adding or updating a file, the Update Project Documents - Attach Comment dialog box appears after you have selected the desired file.
2. Check the Add comment to new discussion option and your comment will be the first entry in a new Discussion Thread.
3. Enter the title in the Subject line. Press TAB on your keyboard to position the cursor in the text box and type your Comment.
4. Format the text as desired using the toolbar buttons at the top of the window. Click Next.
5. Send an email to other project members notifying them of the changes to the file and of your new comment. Click Finish.
Your comment appears in the Discussion tab. Autodesk Buzzsaw Administrator Tip: Creating and Using Project Home PagesMany people customize the Site Info page to show their company’s website or a special page designed for Autodesk® Buzzsaw™. However, take it a step further and do the same for Project Info pages.
Project administrators can control and update their own info page(s) to show project-specific information. For example, and save your latest schedule as a picture (.jpg) and post weekly to a folder in Buzzsaw. The automatic version control keeps track of how the file has changed and the Project Info page links directly to the live file, so team members always have the most current schedule.
Project administrators might want to send a link directly to their Project Home Page, like http://projectpoint.buzzsaw.com/client/kdp/Riverwoods. Right-click on the project folder, select Copy URL, and then paste that link in. |
